Not all garage doors have the feature but usually there is a sensor on the wall that the door is attached to. If a car or person sets off the sensor, the door "knows" to stay open.

Fix my Craftsman 139.53973SRT garage door opener? When the button is pushed, the motor runs but the chain doesn't move. When I get on a ladder and try to pull the chain (help it along) it wil

If you disconnect the chain from the door (like you would do if the electricity went out and you needed to get the car in/out). Can you easily open and close the door by yourself? (it should not slam when closing).

If not then your springs could be bad or not set to the correct torque.

If you can open and close easily the door then there could be a issue with the motor or the gearing. BTW sears does not make garage door openers. They have OEM's rebrand their with sear's label. You don't need to have sear come out maybe a generic garage door person or even a handyman. But unless it's under warranty it won't be free.

How do i program my garage door to open with my car garage opener button

Push and hold the two outer buttons until the LED flashes fast Approx (15 seconds) then hold your garage opener up to the mirror or visor and push and hold any button 3 or 4 seconds on the opener Now the Home Link is programed. With the car safely away from the closing garage door find and push the garage openers red programming button (on the motor assembly somewhere that gives you about 30 seconds to push your cars home link button so the garage opener learns the button you want to use for that door the other two buttons can be programed for other doors or house light controler gate opener in the same manner

I have Garage Door Opener from Sears. Wall push button & the the remote from my car open the door OK , but it does not close the door from my car (which is programmed) Wall push button close the door...

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the sensors are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

The door opens when i push to open but when i push to close it starts to close until i stop pushing the button. When i release the button the garage door opens back and clicks 10 times

Check the door sensors. They must be pointed at one another and the small light on each one must be lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have either a bad sensor or the wiring to them is shorted or broken.

The door opens when i push to open but when i push to close it starts to close until i stop pushing the button. when i release the button the garage door opens back and clicks 10 times

Check your door sensors. The need to be pointed at one another and make sure the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you can't get both lights to come on one of your sensors has failed.

Garage Door opened but will not close. I opened

I think the trolley has jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. Remove the bolt and then run the door until it is closed. With the door closed locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit. Turn this 2 turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Replace the bolt.

If the small light in your wall control is blinking it is in the lock mode. Press and hold for 3 seconds the button with the icon of a lock. This will toggle the lock function off.
