SOURCE: computer screen wont turn on

It appears the windows installation is corrupt or the hard drive has a problem. I would suggest to reinstall from the windows installation cd or from the restore cd. If you don't have these I suggest you take the computer to a repair person who can get it working for you.

SOURCE: Black screen with flashing dash

You could have a bad motherboard.

Try to boot off your windows cd.

If it boots from the cd, follow the instructions to repair you existing windows installation.

I'm guessing it wont boot from the cd. At this point it will be difficult for you to continue. You will need a diagnostic CD/Thumbdrive to continue. No offense, but if you had one you would not be here. So, I suggest you find a local repair shop and ask them to run diagnostics.

I recommend a locally-owned shop. Small repair shops find it in their best interest to do good work and depend on you for support. I'm not saying there are always the best choice but the odds are better you'll get good results. Ask around to see where your friends or co-workers go to for service.

SOURCE: wont start ,goes through repair then nothing on

To get the L300 to boot from a disc, ensure you have pressed F12 at start up to change the boot device to DVD Rom and ensure nothing is connected to USB or LAN.
Hope that helps.

What caused a black screen

I had the same problem. While rebooting the laptop the screen would be on for a few seconds after it finished rebooting then the display would go black. If you looked very carefully at the screen you could see the image was there but there was no light behind the screen to make the image visible.

I removed the black plastic display bezel cover that goes around the edge of the display screen to check out the lights and wiring. I found a small magnet that belongs inside the display bezel had fallen out of it's slot in the plastic bezel and was stuck to the inverter pcb (printed cicuit board). To fix this problem I secured the magnet into it's slot inside the display bezel with a bit of glue. After fixing the problem and putting the display bezel back together the laptop worked normally.

The magnet could possibly fall out if the laptop was closed and upside down then dropped on a hard surface. Mine did not feel very secure in the mounting slot which is why I secured it with glue.

This magnet is how the laptop knows the lid is closed. When the laptop is closed the magnet is moved closer to a magnetic switch on the inverter pcb and activates the switch. The laptop thinks it is closed and shuts off the lights behind the display screen. When the magnet fell out of it's slot and stuck to the inverter it activated the magnetic switch all the time whether the laptop was open or closed. This caused the laptop to think it was closed and shut off the lights behind the dispaly screen as soon as the reboot finished.

Black screen

can you see any POST messages when you first turn it on?
ie amount of ram / discs etc..if not try connecting an external
monitor it might be the screen malfunctioning
also is your psu generating the correct voltage ( 18-20v)
if you can , remove ( for 20secs then replace) the internal 5v battery to reset the bios..remove the battery pack and power first though
bottom line is..your mobo could be f****ed or your bios corrupt
best of luck

Turn on acer laptop and it goes to black screen that says no bootable device

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

My computer beeps 3 times when i turn it on, and the screen stays black, it wont read boot discs i cant even see what is goin on.

If laptop is out of warrantty...try if you can open the laptop..only 2 screws are required to open from backside.

If you can open it,remove one memory and try to switch laptop on..find out the faulty memory..or it may just require refixing..

I have an Acer Apsire 6930 and a few weeks ago the screen went black and the computer will not boot. I ordered and received the recovery discs from ACER, but the computer won't even boot/run from the...

Most probably the intergrated Graphic on the mainboard of your Laptop is faulty. Too bad, you have to replace it from ACER or any authorised Vendors.
If the cost is too expensive to repair, get a new Laptop/notebook.
