I put different spices in containers but had to run out and now I am a bit mixed up. How can I tell which is turmeric?

Turmeric is kind of pepper-y although its a bit bitter as well. It doesn't have such a strong smell though it does smell a bit like ginger. Its bright yellow. Hope that helps! Here is a picture

Yes you could substitute pickling spice. The flavor will be different than simply allspice. Pickling spice is a mixture of many spices, including Allspice. The mixture usually contains mustard seeds, whole coriander seeds, bay leaves and red pepper flakes. go to your hardware store and ask for some 2 cycle 50:1 oil, mix that with a gallon of gas and you're good to go. Before you mix, make sure that you read the oil container for it's recommendations! You can purchase a small container of oil that is all measured for 1 gallon of gas
