But being such an old scanner you will be better off just buying a new usb flat-bed scanner for under $60 at most post offices or retail out lets
This May be a Problem with the Scanner Bed or the Scanner Software itself..........
If u Have a Windows Vista.......
Go to Start/All Programmes/Windows Photo Gallery........... There you will see an option saying File click on that and now on the drop down click on Import from Scanner or Camera.........Select ur scanner from that list and click on Import.............And See how the Quality Looks there if the Quality there is Fine that means there is a Problem with the Scanner Software you can just Uninstall and Reinstall it........If it is the same there also it is a Problem with the Scanner Bed..........Try Cleaning the Scanner Bed with a Dry Soft Cloth..........
The problem is going to be with the bulb itself. The scaner you are using is not made to do such precise work. The bulb itself is undersized for such a large scale job. You can look into upgrading the bulb of your scanner but I would not sudgest it unless you go to an authorized dealer/maint contractor for your Microtek to find the proper upgrade.
This scanner will not work with NTFS systems - it was built for DOS system [95/98] You could try My Computer/Windows help/Program Compatability and try resetting the computer to run as Win 98 - it may work. Otherwise replace the scanner.
I would say the most likely cause of the issue is either that the scanner is no longer functioning or that it is experiencing power issues. Make sure that the scanner is plugged in directly to the wall and not into a surge protector or a power strip. The scanner does not share power well and pulls it in large amounts - when it can't get it it throws little power fits and sometimes will not turn on at all. Try another wall outlet and see if you can get it to power on and do a scan without the yellow strip showing up.
