SD card reader problem, Toshiba Satellite P25

Hi,
My Toshiba laptop doesn't show drive info for my SD card slot.
The light comes on briefly, but I see no info on the drive.
I downloaded a driver from Toshiba.

Exact same problem... insert the SD card, light comes on for roughly a second, then goes out. No activity in Windows XP, not showing up in disk management, and is doing the same thing with a number of cards, all of which work fine in other PCs.

On a Toshiba Satellite P10EE1. Did a fresh Win XP op system install, and all Windows updates. The same happens for me SD light on for a sec or 2, then nothing.

In device mgr it pops up with a yellow !

Personnally I think it is a windows update that is causing the error!!!?

Have a look into the device manager, right click my computer, select manage, then on the left side of the management window click on device manager, plug in the sd, do you see any ? or ! or yellow marks or unknown devices that a driver would be missing from or malfunctioning?

Can my satellite laptop download photo from my sd card?

Hi.

Yes you can pop an SD card in the card slot on the laptop and copy your photo's or videos to your laptop. The card will show up in Computer as a removable device.

The monitor on my Toshiba P25-S5093 does not have any display of any kind; all black. I have display using external monitor.

Hi,
Does the display show anything before you enter windows? If yes, then press the key to transfer video back to your original screen once you enter windows. It should be the function key "Fn" + F5 - F8. looks for the icon which shows a monitor or says "CRT/LCD".
If it doesn't show anything before you enter windows I'm afraid your screen needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Can not read sd cards. The blue light goes on after introducing the SD card in the slot (the small one on left side), but "My Computer" does not show the folder even after refreshing.

Is you're card a SD HC (High Capacity) Card (usually > 4GB)?

Some older readers dont read the HC cards, if so the solution may be to buy a usb reader that will read SDHC cards.

My toshiba laptop doesnt read SDHC card

sdhc cards are not backwards compatible with sd card slots. sd cards however are backwards compatible with sdhc card slots. newer card slots and readers are sdhc and sd ready but i'm afraid your only option is to buy a usb sdhc card reader. normally the 52 in 1 readers and ones like that work well and really don't cost a lot on ebay. the only other thing you could try is to put the sdhc card in an sdhc device (such as a camera) and link it up to the laptop that way.

Inserting media card into toshiba laptop

Hi,
In the card slot if u are inserting a mmc card it will be inserted directly and after inserting u will find a new drive in my computer and on opening that u will be finding the data and to transfer the data directly right click on the data and send to drive name allottedto card reader.
If u rae using a micro SD card then u will have to use an adaptor which will convert micro sd card to the MMC size.

Reg mmc card reading

Normally you'd just be able to open My Computer, and plug the card in to the built in slot, and it would pop up as the next available drive letter. If the internal slot is missing or inoperative, you could buy a cheap MMC to USB adapter, plug the card into the adapter, and the adapter into a USB slot.

SD card slot problem

Yes, these HC cards require a different reader, than traditional SD cards. The builtin one on the laptop probably doesn't support them, since any SD card above 2gb is technically considered an HC SD card. so my advice is to go to a cheap computer parts supplier, and see if they have a reader that will work for HC SD Cards.

DAMN THE MAKERS OF FLASH MEMORY FOR BEING SO COMPLEX!!!!

SD card

You just need to insert a Memory card supported by your laptop in that slot and it will automatically show up on your My Computer as a removable drive.
