Yes. Alcopop is used colloquially to describe these drinks as well as wine coolers, breezers, and such.

Vanilla Malt Shake Recipe

My friends and I used to meet up at this diner in the neighborhood that had the most amazing Vanilla Malt shakes, but unfortunately the diner had to close down a few years ago. I spent a while trying to find the recipe for the shake and I have finally found it and thought to share it will all of you.


1 cup of milk

1/2 cup carbonated water

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup and 2 Tbsp malted milk powder

4 scoops of vanilla ice cream

Mix together all ingredients in a blender and then scoop in ice cream, blend until it comes out smooth. Pour your shakes into glasses add a cherry and enjoy!

This recipe is for two servings.

I think two of the most well-known examples of flavored malt beverages are Smirnoff Ice (comes in green apple, raspberry,etc.) and Mike's Hard Lemonade (comes in cranberry,black cherry, raspberry, etc.)
