SOURCE: Acer Aspire 5050 won't power on
If anyone is still having symptoms, I have the reason behind the problem. Acer uses a power input jack made of mostly plastic with a sheath of aluminum around it. This sheath has 2 main functions first is to solder it in place on the board, the second is to provide grounding. This very delicate little box made of mostly plastic has a little center node that is broken off if the laptop is drop hard enough, usually 2 feet or more. This center node provides one side of the polarity of electricity in order to power on the laptop. Upon breakage it slips back into the laptop never to interface with the powercord again, thus no charging. I would suggest everyone to look in the hole of their power input jack and you will probably see yellow plastic surrounding a silver post that is dangling in a weird fashion.

1. you need to remove the power cover (if you see the power button, that what i mean).
2. after you remove that cover, you will see 2 screw that hold the keyboard. Remove both screws.
3. Remove keyboard and replace it with new keyboard.

remove battery and again insert it... then connect the a/c supply to the laptop and then check whether the power led is on or not .. if yes then on your laptop ..

Try leaving the battery out overnight. Sometimes it takes a while for the internal electronics to go 100% dead. Also, try holding down the power button for 10 seconds; that occasionally helps. Alas, it looks like you have a hardware failure, so the above may not work. Is your data backed up? If not, the drive is easy to remove and aspire 3680s are cheap on eBay.
