Question about Linksys BEFSR41 Cable/DSL Router W/4 Port Switch, Retail Box (DSLSBEFSR41)

1 Answer

Router suddenly dropped connection. Have been using this same router without issue for about 8 years now (Linksys BEFSR41 router). When I tried resetting the router and plugged the power back in, the power light just blinks intead of having a solid light. Did the router short out or something?

Blinking Green, the color it has always been. When you first plug in the power, all the light flash, then go away with the lone blinking green power light remaining.

If the power light keeps blinking it means that the router has reached its end point or else you have short circuited the board, or the router is reached up to the maximum whereby it has totally failed. The best would be to replace that router now or try to use a software named tftp to get into the router interface if it is possible then upgrade the firmware/ You can get tftp by searching in google.

I think the most likely problem is that both routers are using different IP address ranges and won't allow data to pass between them.
I suggest you use only the Linksys wireless router.

Setup router with vonage device and dsl modem

For the best call quality, I suggest you connect the Vonage router to the DSL modem, and if necessary, connect the Linksys router behind that. Why are you using a second router, though - you probably just need a switch or hub, if you're trying to connect more machines. Small networks rarely require more than one router. MaverickSolutions.biz may be able to provide additional support if you can give us more details about your installation.
