Question about Health & Beauty
Hi,
Snoring happens when you can't move air freely through your nose and throat during sleep. This makes the surrounding tissues vibrate, which produces the familiar snoring sound. Many factors, such as the anatomy of your mouth and sinuses, alcohol consumption, allergies, a cold, pregnancy, allergies, obesity and your weight, can lead to snoring.

Overweight can be one of the factors of snoring, but along with that there are so many reasons like,
#1. Your Physical Structure
#2. Nasal & Sinus Problems
#3. Alcohol, Smoking & Medications
#4. Sleeping Posture
Snoring is a sleep disorder that happens when you can't move air freely through your nose and throat while sleeping. As you breathe, the flow of air makes the tissue in the back of your throat vibrate producing the annoying snoring sound. The sound usually comes through the nose, mouth or combination of the two.
You have to add some special care in your daily lifestyle and include some bedtime remedies if you have to Stop Snoring naturally.

Being overweight is definitely a factor in snoring but
there are many other reasons why people snore, such as; having a cold or any
sinus issues, after drinking alcohol, allergies and even just from the anatomy
of a person's mouth. If it's really bothering you, ask your husband to check
with the doctor what might be causing it.

: Losing weight is very often the most helpful way to
deal with a snoring problem. Exercising doesn't directly stop you from snoring
but if you are working to tone up your arm and upper body muscles, you are
likely to also tone your throat muscles which can help reduce snoring.
It's worth a try and if nothing else you will at least be in good shape!

Snoring with your mouth open is the most common way
that people snore. It's usually indicative of a problem with the tissues in the
throat (ie maybe too loose and therefore causing a blockage in the airways).
You can't make somebody close their mouth when they
are sleeping especially if their breathing feels restricted, which is why they
are opening their mouth.

People snore for all sorts of different reasons but
here are some of the main ones;
1.
Age - as you get
older snoring is more common as muscle tone decreases
2.
Body build - Men
have narrower air passages and are more likely to snore. Also some people's
anatomy is such that is makes snoring more likely.
3.
Sleep position -
sleeping on your back makes snoring more likely
4.
Alcohol and
medications - these relax muscles and tissues which contribute to snoring
5.
Sinus/ nasal
problems
6.
Being overweight
- more likely to have excess flabby tissue in the throat which blocks the
airways.

Allergies can really cause congestion which then leads
to snoring as blocked airways cause vibrations of throat tissue and that's what
makes the snoring noise.
Trying using anti congest ants and / or nasal sprays
for a few days. But you shouldn't use
these medications for long as sometimes they can actually make the problem
worse, so make sure you follow your doctor's instructions.

Your wife is actually right on this one! Being
overweight can lead to extra tissues at the back of the throat. These tissues
narrow the airways and this causes a vibration which is the snoring sound.
Other factors can also be the cause of your snoring
but if you lose some weight you may find that the snoring improves.
