hi there sorry bout this but there are always problems with winamp player out of all the music apps i've used it is the worst to say the least and has a hard time playing videos too i would download another app like vlc player or evan itunes or use your windows media player if your os is windows that is vlc and itune are free to dwnld there is also gom player which isnt bad either hope this helps ya
Make sure that your sound card driver is installed and functional: try playing a song. If it works, or other video/movie produce sound, then the decoder 'Codecs' available may not be compatible with the format of the video/movie you are trying to play now: instead of microsoft media player, try installing and using another player such as the free VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Hope it helps.
There are a few things you can try here. You say sound works when you start your laptop, can you play sound off the Internet, for instance a news clip or youtube video? If so, the problem may be with the media player you are using. There should be a volume control on your media player, in addition to the Windows volume control. You might want to try using a different media player, like musicmatch jukebox or Winamp.
if there are any external HDD attached unplug them before you boot.. try that first...if that doesn't work,..reboot..then press F12 or F2 ( you might have to tap-tap to get into settings ) to go into bios settings. disable boot from usb and make sure that the boot setup starts with the cd-rom first then the HDD 2nd and nothing 3rd.and if that fails... hopefully you made a back up/repair disc. use that...9/10 times it will fix what the problem is.
