SAFE MODE:

1. Place you finger on the on/off sensor leave it their until you console turns off then take you finger off the sensor.

2. Place your finger back on the on/off sensor leave it their until you hear 2 consecutive beeps then take your finger off.

3. Once the safe mode screen comes on select the option PS3 SYSTEM RESTORE.

NOTE: A PS3 system restore will delete all data except the OS. I recommend backing up your console onto a USB flash drive if possible.

Good Luck!

During the process of updating my new ps3 firmware the hdd got corrupted. So I have tried all the troubleshooting problems but still don't work.

Sounds like your HDD is busted. I had the same problem, and i didn't find any solution to fix it. You could try to remove the HDD (You can find tutorials from youtube, for example, ), clean it and put back to your ps3 system. If it doesn't work, then you have to buy a new HDD. (Any 2.5 SATA hard-drive will fit, 5400 is recommended.(And again, "How to change HDD" Tutorials can be found on internet))

HI, backup your games. If you're a playstation plus member you can back them up online. Otherwise, insert a usb drive, go across to "game" then up or down to "Saved data utility (ps3)". Then select the save you want to backup by pressing triangle. Select copy, choose your usb drive (or usb key) as the destination.
After you have backed up all the saves you want, go across to settings, then to system settings. then select "Restore default settings." Let it have its process, and turn off the PS3 then back on again.
You may need to set up your network settings again.
If it still doesn't work, follow steps above but select "Restore PS3 system" instead. This is when having the backed up game saves is needed as you will have to copy them back from the usb drive (or from online via playstaiton plus) onto your restored ps3.

When replacing a hard drive in a PS3, the easiest way to transfer your game data from one drive to another is to use a USB Flash drive. If you are only concerned with the save game data, you can plug it in while using the hard drive that has your save files, go to Game on the XMB, then Game Saves, and select the save data you wish to copy. Press triangle and select copy. This method doesn't work for all games though, because some games will "lock" your save data but there is a way around this.

Instead of manually copying your save files, you can backup your data to the flash drive under the Settings on the XMB, then go down to System Settings > Backup Utility. This will try to backup everything on your PS3, so it is best to have manually transferred as many of the other types of files (music, pictures, videos) off the first hard drive as possible. This means more space will be available for Game saves and Game Data. If you aren't too concerned with reinstalling game data on the new drive, i would suggest deleting these from the first hard drive as well, as they take up much more space and make the back-up process take considerably longer.

Once the Backup Utility finishes, you may swap in the new hard drive and restore the data from your flash drive. Restore is in the Backup Utility menu.

You should delete the game-data from you hard drive. If this does not help, completely erase your hard drive (backup your data first!).

If you are having trouble with your PS3 booting up properly this is a sign that you have corrupted data on your hard drive or you have a problem with the hard drive. The link below will help you address the issue with a corrupted hard drive. If this does not fix the problem you will need to replace the hard drive.

Putting old hard drive in new ps3 to get game saves error

You cannot switch a hard drive from an old ps3 and put it into the new one. The new ps3 will know that a new hard drive was inserted and offer to format it.

To get the games off the old hard drive, put it back into the old ps3. Insert a USB flash drive into a USB port on the PS3 and you should be able to copy saved games from the hard drive onto the USB flash drive. You can then plug the USB flash drive into your new ps3 and copy off the saved game info,

The system powers on, will take and eject a game or blu-ray disc, but you can hear the hard drive just spinning and makes a grinding sound

The hard drive is going bad. You can replace it with any 2.5" laptop SATA hard drive.

If you can, first take the old hard drive out and put it in an antistatic bag. If you don't have one, you can use a ziploc bag. Place it in your freezer and let it sit in there for an hour or two. While the HD is nice and cold, put it back in and the HD should work long enough for you to copy your save data to a USB thumb drive.

When you get the new drive, your PS3 will still boot up just like normal. Just follow directions to format the drive and then you can copy the save data off the drive back onto the PS3.

How do i delete corrupted data

no no way easier than that.1. With ps3 off, hold down power button. it will beep, then beep again, and beep once more turning it off. (Hold it down throughout the process) 2. Hold down power button again, it will beep on, then beep again, then two beeps will happen. Immediately after the two beeps release the power button.3. Connect USB wire to controller and push the controller's ps button4. a menu will come up. You want option 3. It detects all corrupted data and deletes it. And thats it.It doesn't take long.
