Scratch on my tag heuer sunglasses lens

Hi Karen,
there are a number of places that specialize in replacing scratched or broken sunglass lenses.
www.thesunglassfix.com is probably the largest out there and known for good quality at a great price. However, there are others like fuse.com and your local optomentrist that may have the lenses.
Most offer the option of having the lenses sent out to you or you sending in the frames to get new lenses.

Have tried many of the "buffing out scenarios above" and my personal opinion is they don't work and only make matters worse. Getting new lenses can cost as little as 10% of the purchase price and complete resolves the issue for years.
Good luck Craig

A balonet tap is broken off the bajonet ring

Don't try to glue it on :-)

If it's only one tab, the other two should be able to hold the lens securely enough to allow you to continue using the lens. However, its risky and you should get it fixes as soon as you can.

Any qualified camera repair shop should be able to replace the lens mounting ring (that's the part with all three tabs). If you're confident you can do the replacement yourself (you'll need at least a screwdriver and a soldering iron, assuming the lens has any electronics in it), you may be able to order the part from
http://uscamera.com/nikonlens.htm
They don't have parts for all Nikon lenses.

I'm thinking about buying a used camera that's a great price, but the auto focus is broken. Is there a way I can fix it?

With respect, if you need to ask that question to start with, then you definitely can't fix it. In any case you haven't supplied any make or model details and you won't know what the exact fault is until you've handed over your money and got your hands on the camera.

AF systems are complex and repairs are not often straightforward, often they cost more to fix than the camera is worth. The seller is unlikely to be an idiot, if it was easy to fix they wouldn't be selling it cheap.

Sony a350. Camera motor makes grinding noise when turning on and off. Noise lasts 1-2 seconds. Was not dropped or bumped. Local camera shop said lens not camera.

A few years ago that noise was extremely common on almost all body motor driven AF lenses, and it's not exactly uncommon these days.

Your kit lens is not bad, but it is built down to a price as a get-you-started measure. It's not built as well as the upgrade alternatives and is certainly not built to last nor with repairs in mind.

Your fix is to eventually replace your lens, preferably with one which has a built in motor which will be near silent and far faster to focus. Note that if your lens has become harder work for your camera body focus motor to operate then it will put an extra strain on the motor and can shorten it's lifespan.

G'day, I have a Nikon D60. With limited DX lenses available and no teleconverter for DX lenses how do I photograph African wildlife from a distance. I have no wish to be lunch! Kind regards Alan.

Use the longest lens you can get your hands on. It doesn't have to be a DX lens, full frame lenses work perfectly well on the D60.

There are companies that rent lenses. Contact your local camera store, or do a goole search for "camera lens rental".

Hiya. my panasonic SA PTX 60 wont play dvd`s but will play cd`s. i need advice on how to fix this proble. my 2 year old boy decided to put money into the whole bit behind the lense which i got all out

The dvd's lens has probably been damaged due to electrostatic discharge or even a shortcut.
You'll have to replace the optical pickup to fix it.
It's better to have it done by a panasonic/technics technician. Go to your local official service.

The zoom ring has limited use...maybe something stuck inside lens

If you are unable to maximize the zoom capabalities of your lens, the mechanical gears might have been jammed and or broken. Do not push it if it won't let you as you might break the lense. What you can do is to bring it to your local camera shop or service center to have it fixed.
