Question about Belkin Connect N150 Wireless Router (722868807316)

1 Answer

I have a cable (coaxial) internet connection that connects to a modem (given by service provider).the problem is all of its out ports are ethenet ports and my belkin basic n150 wirless router modem just has only adsl (Rj11 port) as its input. how do i connect my wireless router to this. The point here is my friend uses a wireless router with the same issue but he fixed it by inserting into his output ports (modem output to wireless router ouput) and managed to make it work by disabling dhcp( dont exactly remember DHCP, DPHC something of this sort) and his router works.plz help me (sorry for making it so long) but i have been trying this since a week and im tired.thank you in advance

The Ethernet cable will connect your ISP modem to the Belkin. Here is a User manual: http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/MAN_F7D5301_v1_8820-00696_Connect_N150_Router.pdf

no im putting the pictures up for you to see.. image 1) shows my router model and everything..... image 2) shows my isp provided modem where incoming connection is coaxial and the outcoming is a ethernet cable to be connected to my pc,all the ports in this one is same.....image 3)shows my belkin router where the odd one is a adsl port or normal phone wire which is the incoming port connection and the rest are erthernet incoming port...... image 4) shows where i want to insert my incoming connection as the isp modem is only ethernet and so dont have option to insert into the the adsl port. PS. this is a modem + router and the model u r talking about is a different one.

The ethernet cable connectes the ISP modem to the top/blue ethernet connection, the other connections are for devices you whish toconnect directly to the router/wireless.

  • omar rashid Jan 14, 2013

i do know that but the blue port is RJ11 while the outgoing from my modem is RJ45 or RJ54 dont exactly know. i want to connect it in the port where i have put the wire.

  • omar rashid Jan 14, 2013

I'm having trouble connecting my emachine to a cable modem.

Turn off the computer before you begin making connections. Make sure the cable modem is up and running with your service before you attempt to make the computer connection.

  • 2 Connect the coaxial cable from the wall outlet into the back of the cable modem where it is marked "Cable" and has the male coaxial connection. Use an extension coaxial cable if necessary to reach the modem.
  • 3 Connect the CAT 5 networking cable from the cable modem where it is marked "PC" (or something similar) and connect the other end into the back of your computer where the networking card is. These connections are RJ-45 connections that look like oversized telephone jacks. If you also have telephone service through your cable provider, you will want to connect the telephone line into the port on the back of the cable modem marked "Telephone."
  • 4 Connect the power cord into the back of the cable modem and plug it into a power strip with power surge protection. The modem should power on by itself once it is plugged in. It will cycle through a power on self test and then make the connection to your cable Internet provider. Once the lights indicating power and cable are green, you are ready for Step 5. It could take several minutes for the modem to connect to your service provider.
  • 5 Turn on the computer and test out your Internet connection. Should your computer still have a problem connecting to the web you may need to reset your cable modem. You will find a small recessed button the size of the head of a ballpoint pen either on the back or front of the modem. This button will be marked "Reset." Pushing it once will allow the modem to reboot and reset all its connections. Turn off the computer before resetting the modem to allow the computer to flush all the networking connections out of its memory as well.

  • If the power goes out and your connection is not restored when it comes back on, always reboot the devices in this order: cable modem first, computer second. Keep the cable modem where it can get proper ventilation. Call your cable Internet provider if you get frequent interruptions to your cable Internet service and rebooting the modem does not solve the problem.

I have Belkin N150 Rouer. My internet is Time warner. It has no connection between the modern and Belkin router. How can I set up Belkin N150 Router to solve this problem?

f the modem light keeps blinking, it means that the router hasn't been configured yet. Also, rarely, it can be an issue with WAN port/modem port on the router or the ethernet cable connecting the modem to router or finally, modem may not be working as its not applicable in this case(as you said).

    1.Connect comp.--(gray port) router (yellow port)--modem
2.On the computer, open the router page by typing 192.168.2.1 in the address bar of browser

NOTE : IF YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER IS CABLE FOLLOW THE BELOW STEPS

3.Under Internet WAN , SELECT the connection type as Dynamic.->NEXT
4.On the far left column, click on "MAC address" under Internet WAN.
5.Click on clone and apply changes and finally check Internet status
6.If internet status > Not connected, we need to do a network power cycle
7.For this, unplug the power from router, then from modem, then unplug the coaxial cable from cable modem.
    8. Wait for 60 sec, then connect the coaxial cable, then connect power to modem, wait for lights on modem to get steady, then finally, plug in the power to router.
Now, you may see proper lights lit on the router.
All my best wishes for a fast internet service through the router.

    FOR PPPOE OR DSL CONNECTIONS
1.Under Internet WAN , SELECT the connection type as PPPOE ->NEXT
2.ENTER THE USERNAME & PASSWORD PROVIDED BY YOUR IN INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER
    3.CLICK ON APPLY CHANGES

    1. Save your work and shut down your PC.
    2. Connect the coaxial cable from the coaxial jack in your wall to the coaxial port on the rear of the modem. Turn the connector clockwise until the cable is firmly connected to the modem. Gently tug on it to make sure it is connected.
    3. Connect the appropriate cable, USB or Ethernet to the matching jack on the rear of the modem. Connect the other end of the cable to the appropriate port on your computer.
    4. Connect the modem's power adapter to a surge suppressor or a dependable wall socket.

Assuming that Windows has recognized the modem, and has loaded the correct device-drivers, Windows can use the modem.

You'll need to find an Internet Service Provider that provides "dial-up" service.

    You'll need to have a land-line telephone (not a cell-phone) with your local telephone-company.

Connect a 4-wire cable (not an 8-wire Ethernet cable) from the "line" port on the modem to the telephone wall-jack.

Then, follow the instructions given you by your Internet Service Provider to configure your modem to connect to their dial-up server. Or, telphone them, and their Technical Support staff will guide you through the necessary configuration steps.
