Bernina virtaousa 155 makes a puffing noise while sewing

While I am sewing my sewing machine will make a sound kind of like a puff, not like every so many seconds but randomly; At first it did it every once in a while mow it is quite often. Could my problem be electrical or something slipping, do you have any suggestions.

Hi Mary, I suspect that the noise your hearing is the bearing on the belt tensioner. Like a woosh woosh sound. It is quite common and usually one of the first things I look at when servicing a machine like yours. Under the handwheel inside there is a tensioner with a bearing that turns against the belt. Over time this bearing gets build up in it, mostly rubber from the belt. This tensioner needs to be removed, the c-clip popped off and then clean and oil the bearing part and reassemble.
Its really not a task I would suggest doing yourself. A servicing is in order and if you have this done, specify this part, as sometimes it gets skipped in the process.
In the mean time its not really anything to worry about unless that bearing seizes up which you will notice bigger problems.
Good luck

My Bernina makes noises when sewing, sounds like she's exhausted, like it's a struggle to sew. It's kind of a knocking noise. Also I don't seem to get right the upper...

If you bet a humming noise the motor might need servicing. Inside motors are a pain... take it in for "clean, adjust and repair"

I have just bought a new bernina 440QE - it makes a loud noise when turned on, which gets louder when you increase the sewing speed - I have a 240 which runs much quieter - is it a fault or is it normal?

That is a great machine, should sound realy good. Should sound just like a 240. Are you lubricating the hook (that is important with the 440). If that does not help I would take it in.
