Error E808 on the Canon imageRUNNER IR2018 indicates a problem with the primary charging assembly. The primary charging assembly is a critical component in the printing process, responsible for applying a uniform charge to the drum surface. When this assembly encounters an issue, the printer displays the E808 error code. To troubleshoot and potentially resolve the E808 error, follow these steps:
Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can clear temporary errors.
Check for Paper Jams: Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the paper path, particularly around the primary charging assembly area.
Inspect Primary Charging Assembly: The primary charging assembly might be dirty or worn out. Open the printer's front cover to access the assembly, and check for any visible signs of damage or contamination. If you see any toner or debris on the primary charging unit, carefully clean it using a soft, lint-free cloth.
Reset the Printer: If the error persists, try resetting the printer to clear any internal glitches. Refer to the printer's user manual or Canon's support documentation for instructions on how to perform a factory reset or hard reset.
To clear the E808 code unplug the machine for about 10 minutes. If the thermistors are bad the code will appear but will not reset until the fixing film assembly is replaced. If you have tried to repair this machine, make sure you have not left the connector unplugged.
