Re: Timer clicks arround and arround

My Belling integrated washing machine will not stop at the end of the cycle. My partner had accidently moved the dial during mid-cycle. We have tried to reset the machine by turning it off and then moving the dial around to the stop section of the dial. However when we turn it back on it waits for a while and then continues to click around with starting any cycle. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Re: Timer clicks arround and arround

1st switch off appliance, put timer knob to a stop position...switch it back on...some lights may flash quick, this is the timer/pcb re-setting memory chip.. then try selecting a new prog... if still not working check filter it may be blocked..which will stop water from emptying thus timer click rounds.. also if you have moved into a new house..make sure that the drain pipe under sink hasn't been blocked of.. ps each time you try timer, as it will store last you need to resett... ally ally

I have an Electrolux EWD1477. I have been away for four months and I'm having problems with it. I set to do the quickwash30 program and press start, you hear the clicks, it might put some water in then...

My EWD1477 was doing this a year ago and I fixed it. Then it started doing it again a month ago and I seem to have cleared it again.

Firstly, remove the drain hose from where it is inserted into a laundry sink hole to make sure it is not blocked or sealed in with sludge.

Secondly, make sure the machine is empty of water and clothes and then turn the machine to off with the Program Selector Dial. Then turn off the power at the socket and remove the power plug and leave for five minutes.

Step 1: put the plug back in and turn the power back on.

Step 2: turn the selector switch to the right (Whites/Intensive). The green light of the Start/Pause button should be flashing and the green lights on for Prewash/wash, Rinses and Spinning. Don't press any other buttons or change any other settings.

Step 3: press the Start/Pause button and wait for the machine to empty any excess water. Press it again immediately after you hear water flowing into the machine OR two audible clicks. The machine is now in pause mode with the green light of the Start/Pause button flashing. Only the green light on the Prewash/Wash button should be on. Leave it in pause mode for 30 minutes and then press the Start/Pause button to recommence the cycle.

Step 4: If the Start/Pause button begins flashing, water stops flowing into the machine and the three green lights mentioned above are back on, turn the Program Selector Dial back to off, wait 10 seconds, and repeat the process above.

Step 5: If when you then turn the Program Selector Dial to Whites/Intensive and hear the two audible clicks, immediately press the Start/Pause button to set the machine in pause mode. Wait 30 minutes. Then press the Start/Pause button to recommence the cycle.

Hopefully the cycle will run without a problem.

Whirlpool 2298 automatic top loader machine is 30 years old. just after the suds return and up to three times through the wash cycle the pump switches on and for about 10 seconds empties water through...

Hi David,

sorry I can't solve your problem, but I wish to thnak you for your post. I have the same problem and pulled the timer out to give a clean with no luck. I did find evidence of a short circuit on one of the elements so something did happen. I have bee trying to locate a new/used timer - but no luck.. You would think that Whirlpool when making such excellent products would provide the service these long lasting devices deserve.

My washing machine is not changing cycles. It fills, drains and refills. It sat unused for 1 year. 12 months ago it was working fine.

Hi there. I can help you.

When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. If this is the case, turn off the water and remove the hoses. Check both hoses to be sure the filter screens are not clogged with crud and that the hoses aren't kinked.

No power??

It's more than likely its the door lock, if not check the timer contacts on the top front connection block, if they have blown it will need a timer & door lock

Have to change cycle manually

Reason? There shouldn't be one. Seems you're extraordinarily unlucky with timers. Mine's 10yo, never broke. The timer is a standalone part, it's not dependent on any other parts for its longevity. So there can't be any other parts in the washer 'killing' it.

Are you handling it gently? Turn it slowly when setting, don't whip it around.

I have the same issue, have just returned from a 9 month break and now the washer does the click thing, but if you open and close the door a few times and set to program 4 is seems to work after about 10 minutes! It was perfect when I left, not 18 months old either. Can see it being the timer either, maybe a pickup of some type not detecting a level? Peter
