Double side priting in lexmark X502

Hi Peter,
The +24vdc can be measure on the power supply.. There are two white connectors side by side, J503 and X502. There should be two long wires connected to these connectors and from there to the back light inverter boards. If the +24vdc are missing, I would suggest to check FU503 for open conditions. If the fuse is found to be defective, There won't be any +24vdc at the white connectors.

If your printer does not have a duplex unit then the printercannot print double sided pages automatically.
You can print double sided pages but you have to do it one page at a time.

The duplex unit for this printer is an optional fitting.
If you do not have the optional duplex unit installed then you can only do double sided printing one page at a time manually.

The Canon MG5220 has a built-in auto duplexer and can print 2-sided documents. On a Mac, click print, and in the print dialog box select Duplex Printing & Margins (drop down options below Printer and Presets). Check the Duplex Priting box, and selected the Stapling side. Then click Print. That's it!!

I have a C540n with the same problem. As well as the instructions, it prints a very large, very black arrow. I estimate that this uses the equivalent of about 20 - 30 pages of toner. I cannot find any way of stopping this. I think this is a deliberate attempt by Lexmark to increase toner cartridge sales but I think it will backfire on them as I will not be buying another Lexmark or recommending one to anyone. Do they really think their printer users are that stupid that they wouldn't guess whats going on ?!!! The worst part of this is that they are penalising people who want to save paper resources by printing double sided.

sounds like the glass needs cleaning, also it might have dust or a spec of dirt on the light bar that reads/scans the document. You may need a professional serviceman to come out to clean that. I'd check your owners manual for cleaning tips, also you can check on google for ways to clean a copier thats leaving streaks.
