The problem with shaving your legs is that it removes the hair from the surface and not from the root. So the result is a temporary one and within a couple of days it will start to grow back.

A friend recently told me to go to and I would receive a tablet. Is this true?

Have you ever heard the saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is"? Who ever told you that is pulling your leg (he's joking with you). You can go to that site, but they aren't giving anything away.

Is it really bad to shave your legs without water or shaving cream?

At the very least, you should shave with water. Shaving completely dry is the perfect way to ask for terrible razor burn. Also, you need water and cream to get a close shave. Dry shaving would still leave you with a lot of stubble.

Does underarm hair grow at the same speed as hair on your legs? I am asking because I feel like I have to keep shaving my underarms and my legs need shaving so much less often and I wondered if this was...

You are right - underarm hair grows up to 50% faster than the hair on your legs. So it's very normal that you have to shave your underarms much more frequently. Maybe consider waxing so that you don't have to do so often.

Do you need wet skin before you shave it?

You don't have to be wet before you shave your legs, but you do need some kind of barrier, such as shaving cream before you put the razor on your skin.

However, having a bath or shower up to ten minutes before you shave your legs will soften your skin and relax the hair follicle. If you use a mild exfoliator on your skin before you shave it can also help to get rid of dead skin cells.

What are ingrown hairs? I have a few really sore pimple type spots on my legs and they are really sore. Is this from shaving my legs?

Shaving can cause ingrowing hairs. This happens when the hair that is cut curls back and grows inwards. It shows up as pimples or bumps and can look red and inflamed. If it's a constant problem or gets infected, you may need to get advice from a dermatologist.

Does shaving your legs and underarms cut you? I want to shave my legs but I wear short skirts and dont want to walk around with shaving cuts.

Shaving your legs shouldn't leave cuts on your leg unless you use a blunt blade or don't use a shaving cream or body wash - in these situations the razor doesn't glide along the skin and can cause cuts.

Do you have to do any kind of preparation before you shave your legs? I have never done it before and am a bit nervous.

You don't need any special preparation to shave your legs but don't use a razor on dry legs and this could cause cuts and will irritate your skin horribly. Just use body wash while you are showering or a shaving foam. It's very quick and easy.

Does your hair grow back darker and thicker once you start shaving it? I am talking about leg hair, not beards etc

Shaving your legs doesn't make the hair grow faster than it normally would, but because the removal is just from the surface and not the root - it grows back fast and that's why people think it's the shaving that's to blame. The other problem is that shaving your legs causes the hair to have a blunt tip and it makes the ends look more darker and more stubbly.

What is the easiest way to remove unwanted hair? Ie from my legs and underarms.

Shaving is definitely the easiest and cheapest method to remove unwanted hair. You can buy razors quite cheaply and use shower gel, although some people prefer to buy a shaving cream which reduces redness afterwards. Shaving your legs and underarms doesn't hurt at all but you have to keep doing it regularly as the hair stubble grows back quickly.
