The reverse stitch button is stuck in (or broken) and machine only sews in reverse. Can this be repaired?

Have you followed your user guide instructions re making needed setting adjustments back to a sewing mode? Have you checked the guide for instructions on 'resetting to factory default' so that you can reprogramme?
If the above doesn't help, have you tried a 'shock reboot'? Start by turning on machine on and let it sit for a few minutes then without turning it off, pull the power plug from the electrical outlet. Wait five minutes then reconnect and turn on your machine - it should have defaulted back to factory settings. You'll lose your saved stitches but your machine should function properly again.
If that doesn't get your machine sewing forward, something the wee man did snapped something inside the machine (usually a gear and the things are easier to 'snap' than people realise) and it's time for a trip to the repair tech...,,THIS IS ALL I COULD FIND ON THE INTERNET..plus this manual...

How do you put in a new toner? Randy

    What to Do
  1. Plug the power cords in, push the power buttons on and get everything up and running. Sounds simple, but lack of power is the culprit quite often.
  2. Check for a phone connection in the correct input jack. Some printers with fax capability have more than one phone jack so you can hook up an answering machine or another phone "downstream" from the printer. Consult your instruction manual to determine the right connection for your printer.
  3. Swap out the all-in-one printer for a working phone to find out if the problem is in the phone line coming from the wall. Once you hook up the phone, you should get a dial tone if the line is working. Remember to reconnect the all-in-one printer after you're done.
  4. Open up the machine and examine the feed path for the documents that you fax. Clear any obstructions you may find. Repeat this process with the paper tray and the path that copy paper takes through the all-in-one printer.
  5. Verify the fax number of your intended recipient. Also get your correct fax number out to the people who need it.
  6. Review your operating instructions and eliminate the chance for human error. Inadvertently skipping a step or misinterpreting an operation could be creating a problem that is simple to fix.
  7. Run through any system-specific troubleshooting regimen that is recommended by the all-in-one printer's manufacturer.

My son has a '91 Pulsar, 5 door hatch. When he changes into reverse, the gear "grates", we beleive the clutch needs to be adjusted, is this correct? (he has no bother with any other gear...

When the engine is idling and the gear box selector is in Neutral all the internals of the gearbox are rotating. Pushing in the Clutch disconnects the drive from the engine to the gearbox but it takes a few seconds for the gears in the box to cease rotating. All the forward gears have synchromesh so there will be no crunching noise ifa forward gear is selected immediately the clutch is pushed in before allowing the gears to stop spinning. On the other hand Reverse has No synchros and therefore selecting reverse before waiting a few seconds for the gears to stop spinning will produce the crunching noise you have described.
So it pays to wait a second or two after pushing in clutch before Reverse is selected to minimise the crunch and if the clutch appears to be working correctly in normal driving ,then no adjustment is necessary.

The number 1 key on our fax machine is stuck and will not spring back up. Do we need to replace the whole keyboard? How much will it cost to replace?

Unplug the power cord.

Try putting a drop or two of isopropyl alcohol or WD-40 down into the stuck key.

Only an authorized brother dealer can install a new keyboard.....$150.00 plus labor.

We are getting Error CODE 021 on our fax machine Panafax UF-560 and can't find the owners manual to fix it...can you help?

Error code 021 indicates a bad fuser but in some cases, the error can be reset. To attempt a reset, do the following:
  1. Remove the toner cartridge and close door back up.
  2. Power down the fax (switch is on the back side lower left) for 5-10 seconds.
  3. Power on the fax and see if the 021 code is gone.
  4. Re-insert toner cartridge
If this doesn't work, there's one other thing to try prior to calling a technician.

1. Push the function button
2. Push 7 on the key pad
3. Push Monitor button 4 times (it will only beep at you)
4. Push * on key pad

You should now see the service menu option

5. Push 7 on the key pad
6. Push "Set" button
7. Push down arrow button once

You should now see the fuser reset option

8. Push "Set" button

You will be prompted for 1 for Yes 2 for no

9. Push 1 on key pad.

You should receive confirmation that the reset is *COMPLETE*

10. Push Stop button until back to the main screen

11. Power down the fax
12. Wait 5-10 seconds.
13. Power on the fax

If this doesn't work, a service call will be needed to replace the fuser. I do hope this fixes your problem.

Does anyone have the reset codes for a brother dcp 115c printer. error code 46 unable to clean. can only find the instructions for the 110c on here.

Resetting purge counter:

1) Enter machine maintenance mode (on MFC210C all four photo/copy/fax/scan lights flash in maintenance mode). Care is needed in maintenance mode, otherwise critical settings may be inadvertently corrupted.

FAX models with numerical keypads: Press the Menu/Set, *, 2, 8, 6 and 4 keys within two seconds. (if you fail to complete the correct key sequence within two seconds, press the Stop key to try again).

Other (non-FAX) models: Press the Menu/Set and Black Start keys. Next press the “up arrow” key four times to enter the maintenance mode).

2) Press the 8 then 0 keys in the initial stage of the maintenance mode to call up the machine's log information list (function code 80).

3) Press the Black Start key several times to scroll through the log information list to reach the purge counter. The purge counter is the 25th item in the list.

4) Press the 2, 7, 8, and 3 keys in this order to reset the purge count to zero.

5) Press the Stop/Exit key to return to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.

6) Press the 9 key twice to return to the standby state.

Code

Look for a key with a coloured symbol,ie,indicating "keyboard 1",or something similar. Hold the code key down and at the same time press your selected key. Order should be restored. If not, look up an Olympia dealer and they will help you over the phone. One thing for sure ,you have inadvertely selected a 2nd or 3rd keyboard setting to accommodate an other daisy-wheel/language. Good luck!
