IF your computer turns it self off and wont restart for a period of time it sounds like a thermal event is occuring--possibly a bad fan or perhaps dirt has clogged the heatsink

If this is a desktop you can take off the side and blow it out with compressed air (make sure you unplug the computer from the wall and discharge the system), after you blow it out leave the side off and try booting it up and see if the fan is spinning

Computer won't recognize external usb hard drive

try it on another computer if that dosent work you should
reformat your computer but first backup all your data by putting your another internal hardrive on your computer and move all your files you need to the empty hardrive and after that take the hardrive with all your stuff in it off the computer and then reformat the hardrive which the external hardrive does not work on and install a new operating system then put the other hardrive with all your stuff back on your computer and transfer your stuff into the hardrive with a operating system then try the external hardrive

OR
you can burn all your stuff into a CD or a DVD
OR
you can put all your stuff into FlashDrives and then after you reformat the hardrive with an operating system put your stuff back into the computer and after that the external hardrive should work

Diouly-dcp's answer
easy..
but only if you will agree to loose all your data,,
plan a

when you turn on your computer press f3 continuously, and reboot your computer(restore or reinstall).

plan b
buy a windows CD,, can be windows 7 or windows 8,,, base on your computer's bit (32 or 64),, buy a CD wich compatible with your computer, which have the windows booting files, and turn on your computer and open the CD pocket and put the CD in your computer, and turn it off,, and turn it on again,, wait.. for a few second, it might say (press any key to boot with CD),, and hit enter it will install the windows that was in the cd. and there you have a new computer.

I placed a cd on my cd holder and the cd fell off inside the processor. How can I get the cd out?

Use paper clip and stick it through a small just outside the cd drive (should be next to the cd button where you press to eject the cd out). Stick paper clip through this small hole until the cd door open and gently take cd disc out. Good luck

this is not really something that can be fixed here, I would take it to a certified computer tech. There are people that can do it remotely but I don't know any.

The cd drive won't open

Turn off the computer. Then go ahead and open up the side door. You will see a white power connector connected to the cd drive. Remove the power connector and then reseat it back into the cd drive.

Then go ahead and turn on the computer, then press the button to the cd drive. The drive door should open. If it doesn't then the drive is bad and would need to be replaced.

My HP a420n won't start after replacing cd-rw drive

Please try to remove all the connections from your computer and also connections inside the motherboard, the power cord for your hard drives and also the power cord from the power supply to your motherboard. After that, remove the memory and clean the pin by using an eraser of the pencil. And then insert again the memory stick and connect all the connections from the power supply to motherboard and everything. Lastly reset your bios and put it back to normal again. Hope this would help. Thanks..
