A lightbox is a container that has light bulbs inside and is covered by frosted glass. The light is about 5000K (bright to not strain eyes). They are generally used to look at bacteria growth, x rays, slides or photographs

Can light boxes be used for medical purposes?

Some doctors have recommended the use of light boxes a couple hours a day for people who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). People with SAD are negatively affected by long dark winters, and light boxes can be used to lighten the day. If you want to try this form of therapy, it is most effective to use a light that will be similar looking to natural daylight.

Can I make a homemade light box? Is it difficult?

Yes you can, and it is not that difficult. All you need is a sheet of plastic cut into a square or rectangle shape at whatever size you decide to make the box, a sheet of wood at the same size as the plastic sheet, some wood for the sides of the box, and some bulbs. Make sure the wood for the sides is big enough to fit the light bulbs inside the box, put it together, and you have your light box.

What kind of bulbs should I use in my photography light box?

The type of bulbs you use is not very important, as long as the light is evenly distributed throughout the box. In keeping the lighting consistent, it is most important to use the same temperature lights, otherwise you will get weird colors.

I have a circuit breaker that controls a light switch and all the outlets in one bedroom and controls half the outlets and a light switch in another bedroom. None of which work now. I have replaced the...

One single cable runs from the circuit breaker to a junction box in that area of the house.
The cable has a black Hot wire, white Neutral wire, and bare ground wire.
Once the cable arrives at junction box, it can split up 2 or 3 directions.
Each successive box receives a cable that feeds back to the first junction box.

Chances are the junction box is on the ceiling. And it will be the ceiling box that is closest to main breaker box.
Junction box can also be a switch box. In that case it will be switch box closest to main box.

Find the junction box, as point of organization.
Open junction box and separate all black and white wires.
Turn power on and see if breaker sets.
That will tell you if problem is between main box and junction box.

Junction box wires are separated.
Tape tester leads to wood sticks to keep hands away from power.
Turn power ON and test each wire in junction box to bare ground wire.
Tester will light up on Hot wire.
Test Hot to each other wire in box, except bare ground, and tester lights up on Neutral
This identifies the cable that comes from breaker box.

Now, reconnect cable from breaker box to one of the other sets of black and white wires located in junction box.
Check if breaker resets.
If breaker resets, see what circuits are working, and you can eliminate them as suspect.

Remember each successive box in a circuit has 1 cable that connects back to main breaker box
Going 1 box at a time, and disconnecting black and white wires, will eventually lead to the suspect.

I want to install a light in my garage i have a live source but how do i connect it to the light and wall switch

My first response would be to seek help from an electrician or someone qualified to perform this work.
If you are going to attempt it, you will need the following items:
- electrical box
- light switch
- light fixture
- wire ( ask you local hardware store clerk what is recommended or needed to meet code in your area.

Disconnect power at breaker to your source.
From your source,
- connect wires to electrical box. then to;
- connect wires to switch then to;
- connect wires to another box at the fixture
- connect fixture to the box.

box=====switch=====box=fixture.

An octagon box should have the same screw spacing as a round box, however, with very old electrical fixtures, all bets are off when it comes to standard sizes. More important than that though is this: Was there a fan there before or are you replacing a light fixture? If it is a light fixture, you need to make sure that the box is sufficient to hold a fan. The weight is significantly higher than most lights and the movement makes it worse. If it was a light, there are fan boxes you can get to retrofit it so that it will be safe.

Power comes from light to switch.want to wire in another switch (same box) to operate another separate light

OK .. for this to work, you would need to confirm that the power cable is also in this wall box. So in that wall box you need the existing power cable, the existing light cable, and a new light cable. All the cables being 2 wire with ground. Then just jumper the black power wire top the new switch, and connect the new light , black wire to the switch, the whites will all be together ..
If there is only one cable in this wall box , then the power is run to some other box and you need a neutral for the new light. That may mean rewiring the power tyop get it to the wall box, or rewing the new light to get power from it.

1995 FLSTC Right Rear running light doesn't light up. Turn signal works fine, no power through running light circuit after mystery box on rear fender (below seat, in fron of fender). L side has power out...

The only "mystery box" that I can think of is the turn signal cancelling unit. It controls most of the lighting on your bike. The box is about an inch and a half wide by about three inches long, little over half an inch thick.
Disconnect the plug on the end of the box and check the pins to make sure they're clean. Also check for any sign of a short between the box and the light. I've seen people buy the box, and they ain't cheap, only to find out that they had a short somewhere in the wire. If you do have a short, the only thing you'll see is that the light won't work. It will not blow a fuse or anything like that. As far as I know, there is not way to test the output unless you've got a special plug made up to do so with. If you know someone that has one, swap the box out with a known good one. Last time I bought one of these boxes, it cost $150 and that was several years ago. Good Luck.
