Run you antivirus .Clean and defrag the hard drive. If the defrag get stuck at the same percentage for a long time ,either run checkdisk to confirm or replace the drive.

this can be a poor contact, due to long period of not use, and it can be repaired by doing a reflow of the graphic chip, if you don't have any idea about graphic reflow/ reball, you can watch this video:

Whats wrong with my apple computer has a blank white screen with a ? and it also had a blue screen the other day not working please help

A question mark on the boot screen is an indication that the machine can't find your boot drive. Usually this is trivially fixed by resetting the PRAM (holding down command-option-P-R after turning on the machine with the power button, until you hear the chime three times).
However, taken in conjunction with your other symptom, I would suspect a failing drive or a failing SATA channel (less probable). Does it boot from the original DVD without these symptoms? After booting from the DVD, are there any indications from the tools that the hard drive may not be showing as present, or may show intermittently?
If you have a good backup (Time Machine or otherwise), I would erase and reformat the disk with "write zeroes to all records one time," then reload the backup, and see if that fixes the problem. If not, you will need to replace the drive, and reload the backup (hope you have one) onto the new drive.

MY optiplex gx280 intermittant boots correctly sometimes only to a black screen and flashing cursor.

It sounds like a problem with the boot loader inside of windows. If you are getting no errors then this is most likly the case.

The following link shows you how to get to the recovery console.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058

from there you need to run 2 commands. the first is: fixboot
the second is: fixmbr

Just type those in when you get to the command line. if that fails, you need to reinstall windows. either way, back up data...ie songs, pictures, documents...etc.

Gateway 7310s won't boot

Boot from a Linux Live-CD and recover your personal files - copy them to an USB stick. Next boot from the Recovery CD and do a complete reinstall, it's too late to do anything else.

Looking for a replacement power/boot up switch for a hp pavilion a1730n

They are just an intermittent contact switch. Finding the two wires to the motherboard and replacing it with a different intermittent switch from someplace like Radio Shack.

When I turn the hard drive on it beeps 6 times intermittently and doesnt boot up as normal. The monitor is switched on but there is no picture. I tried another monitor with my hard drive and that worked...

Unplug power from the machine for a period of 5-10 minutes.

Plug it back in and attempt to boot. Carefully notice if there are any beeps again, and listen for pauses in between. Dell beep codes go in a three pulse pattern I.E. 4-Slight Pause-4-Slight Pause-2-Pause/ and repeat.

After this, you may have to open your machine and assure that everything is well connected.

There is a chance however that a major system component has failed and needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.
