Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

1 Answer

Thermostat not shutting off heat.

I have a Honeywell FocusPRO 6000 series model #TH6220D1002. The problem I'm having is the thermostat will not automatically shut off once desired inside temp is reached. If I gently breathe on or near the thermostat it detects the heat rise and only then does it shut off the heat pump.

Has the thermostat been programed to tell it what type of system you are using. If you look in the papper work you should find where it ells you to hold down the button lower left and top right button i think those are the two i don't have the papper work with me right now but i can get if you need more information on how to set it

What does it mean when it comes on AUX heat?

The system type has been incorrectly set during the installer setup. The t/stat thinks there is auxiliary heat equipment that is controlled by a signal on the Aux-E terminal which you obviously don't have. My recommendation would be to go to the Honeywell website and download a copy of the installation guide for the FocusPro 8000 and go through the installer setup again but select the appropriate system type under setup function 1.

Depends on what type of heat you have...gas, oil , electric, heat pump? Make sure it is the right thermostat for your heat source. Some thermostats have a switch on the back for fuel or electric.
