How do I reattach the cord between my screen and keyboard?

My computer is fine when it is just sitting -- but when I move it -- the screen is loose and when it moves it goes completely white -- I want to know how to attach the cord running between the two so that there is no longer a connection problem

SOURCE: DAMAGED POWER OUTLET ON MY LAPTOP

First, you do not need to replace the motherboard. What you are describing is a very common problem for HP notebooks. You can buy the part on eBay for about $5.00, usually with shipping! It will take a while to take the machine apart - and you must be very careful! but it's an easy fix once you get the notebook apart. This page: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=214342& will give you the info on your machine. Just download the manual entitled: Maintenance and Service Guide. You will need Adobe Acrobat to read the file. I recommend that you print the guide before you begin. It will walk you step-by-step on how to disassemble the notebook to get to the power jack. It all requires is some soldering. You may not even need a new jack, but just know that eBay sellers have them.

SOURCE: the display screen goes off when the laptop is moved

Sounds like the ribbon which runs between the screen and base is being nipped or is not making a good connection. This is a common problem. If that is the problem you may find that by adjusting the screen you can actually get the picture to show again which will confirm but obviously it will continue to happen.

Most laptops have a narrow panel above the F keys which snaps off and reveals the ribbon underneath. Check the connection is pushed in tight and also that the ribbon isn't being nipped, reposition to stop this happening. If it's been damaged then obviously you will have to replace it.

Are the cords (cables) in good condition? Will they work in other situations? You may need to make adjustments in the computer control panel.

There is a video cord that runs from the motherboard to the screen it may be loose and needs to be re-seated back in place, or the problem is in the display itself which would be the worse scenario and would require a full screen replacement.

How to Fix Spilt Liquid on bda25ce.jpg?
You accidentally knocked fruit drink or a late night glass of milk on your laptop or your child spilled a good portion of milk directly into your keyboard. You hear a popping noise, the screen goes black. Water by itself is not as bad as milk or juice, both of which are corrosive/acidic, or coffee, tea, soda, etc.
First and most important -Calm Down and unplug the computer from its power source.
Disconnect it from the power cord and remove the battery. If needs, please remove the keyboard. The old adage - Water and Electricity don't mix - is quite true. For your laptop spilled water, let your laptop dry. Do not attempt to turn on the computer for at least 72 hours. Let it sit in a cool, dry place. If you disassembled the laptop, reassemble it after 72 hours have passed.

Moved WNR2000 from 1 room into another and now router only connects with wireless units not the desktop it sits next to. Any suggestions?

Are you sure the cord is good from the router to the computer? It's either that or maybe a bad plug. Try another cord, and if that doesn't work, it's probably going to be something like a bad plug, or maybe a slightly loose modem board, since you moved the computer. All I can think of for the situation, hope this helps.

I was reading email and the computer screen went black. No lights on, nothing. No noise, nothing. Battery good. Power cord light is on. Is this a blown motherboard?

No first try 2 things
(1)Reattach the RAM memory.
(2)Reset bios settings to factory defaults.
For that you need to open back cover of laptop then reattach the ram memory also make sure your ram memory working fine.
then pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then all settings defaults.
Then if same issue then you need repair your motherboard or lcd screen display.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

try pressing the function or fn keydown and hold it down then press the the f key that turns off and on the display.Do the key that came off feel the same as the other keys when you push them.it could be that the keyboard is damaged and some keys may not be working as in the monitor key.
