First, remove all visible screws.
Then use a magnifier to closely examine the hot shoe. You will see that there is a spring clip which can be slid rearward and removed. Under this clip are 4 screws. Remove these and the rear cover is free.

This seems to happen occasionally with this camera (it did with mine). Some people have recommended finding a spring of the right size and wedging it into the flash compartment to push the flash unit up. I have been unsuccessful at taking the camera apart to try and repair it, despite many suggestions from experts on FixYa.
