When i type anything into Y= the error message INVALID DIM comes up. What do I do to fix this?

I believe that you get the error message not when you type anything in Y= editor, but after you hit the {GRAPH] button. Anyway this is due to the fact that one of your statistical plots are active.

If you got the message while trying to draw a graph (that is your situation)
  1. Press [2nd][Y=] (STAT PLOT)
  2. Choose option [4:PlotsOff][ENTER]. Screen displays Done
If message popped up while doing something else that involves lists or matrices, the length of lists may be different, or the dimensions of matrices may not be compatible.

To Clear the lists:
  1. Press [2nd][0] (CATALOG)
  2. Press [PGRM] (C) to jump to first command that starts with c.
  3. Use arrow to scroll down to ClrAllLists, select it [ENTER]
  4. Calculator displays Done
  5. Start the new problem.
To reset the Ram press [2nd][ ] (MEM) [7:Reset][1:All Ram][2:Reset]. Press [CLEAR] to erase the Ram Cleared message.

When the RAM is cleared, the calculator is reset. The calculator resets itself after a battery change.

When i go to graph anything the error comes up

The actual error message you get is designed to help you diagnose potential error conditions. It is very helpful to know what message was generated. Anyway, I will do my best to guess.

Deactivate the statistical plots.

Press [2nd][Y=] to access (STAT PLOTs)
Select [4:PlotsOff] then [ENTER]

That should solve your problem. Post a comment to this thread if you still have trouble graphing.

When i press the tan or cos or sin button it tell me scientific problem

I am sorry but a scientific problem does not appear to be a valid error message. If you get unexpected results or syntax errors when trying to use the trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan) it can be due to one of two things.
  1. Unexpected values: The angle unit (DEGree, RADian, GRADs) is not set to the one your problem requires. The default angle unit is RAD but the problems that students have to solve are usually cast in degrees. To correct the situation, change the unit to degree.
  2. The syntax is incorrect: the order in the key sequence is not the right one. If you press [SIN] the calculator displays sin(. Note the parenthesis. It is a sure indicator that the angle must be entered after the function. After you enter the value of the angle you may enter the closing parenthesis. My recommendation is to always close the parenthesis.
If the foregoing remarks do not help you solve your problem, post to this thread, giving the EXACT WORDING of the message you get.

Error message for TI-84 Plus

Try and resolve this issue by re-installing the calculator's operating system using the TI OS Downloader. To do this, please follow the steps listed below. Be sure you have fresh batteries in your calculator.

1. Download the OS 2.43 file to your computer (preferably the desktop).

2. Open the TI OS Downloader by going to Start>>Programs>>TI Tools>>TI Connect>>TI OS Downloader. If you do not see TI OS Downloader, you may need to install the latest version of TI Connect. You can download a free copy from:

3. From the main screen, select your calculator and cable type. Click "Next" to continue.

4. From this screen, locate the OS 2.43 file by clicking on the yellow browse folder and navigating to the location where you downloaded it. Double-click the OS 2.43 file to select it.

5. Remove one triple A battery from your TI-84 Plus. With the battery removed, press and hold the [DEL] key while you re-insert the battery.

6. You should see a "Waiting..." message on the screen of your calculator. If so, disconnect the USB cable from your computer, re-connect it and then click "Start Download". This should begin the OS transfer process.

Os versin 2.4

First of all: the usb cable without the bulky thing is the right cable.

For the os problem: you have to re-install an OS on your calculator.

1. Download the current OS. You can download version 2.41 here:

2. Install the ti connect software if you haven't.
3. Connect your calculator to your pc.
4. Go to the folder you installed ti connect in and start TIOS Downloader.
5. Follow the instructions. It will ask for the calculator type, cable type (just choose USB Cable) and will ask where to find the OS. Follow the last instructions and press start download.

If this doesn't work, please let me know
