Question about GE Spacemaker 18" Built In Dishwasher - GSM1800JBB

Open Question

I have a ge dish washer model gsm1800jbb and the handle latch (WD13X10030) had to be replaced...well it took a while to get it in and now we are not sure how to wire the wires. There are 2 white and 2 black and 6 different prongs so I am not sure which way to plug them in to make it work properly. It worked fine before it got stuck closed and wouldn't open, that's why we ordered the whole assembly. The way I have it wired it sounds like its working...water goes in and drains put but the arms on top and bottom aren't spinning and water is not coming out of them...it's just coming out of the side. WHEW!!! That's a lot of info...I hope it helps in solving the wiring issue!! If you have anymore questions please let me know!! Thanks for your help

SOURCE: dishwasher drain solenoid

Snoopy, first of all you did a good thing when you ordered the timer. I have got stung on this model by just changing the solenoid. The fact is the timer is stalling and sending too much voltage to the solenoid and burning it up. Just order the new solenoid and install it. The solenoid is a AC circuit so it doesn't matter which way the harness is on, you should be just fine with the new timer..Catriver..post back.

GE parts folks says that the wiring diagram is either taped inside the back control panel, or someplace else inconvenient. Try that first, and then perhaps you'll find the information. Nada on the net.

SOURCE: GE Triton arms don't spin

Peace,
Cut off the power at the breaker for 5 minutes and then turn it on and see if the system resets!
How old is the machine?

Other wise you need hands on service! And a new machine will pay for itself in only a few years!

Bless You!

SOURCE: GE WHRE5260E1CC NO HOT WATER

hi If the washer won't fill or fills very slowly, if it overfills, or if the water is the wrong temperature, the water inlet valves could be faulty. These components are easy to locate and very easy to replace, at little cost. When you suspect an inlet valve is faulty, first check to make sure the water faucets are fully turned on and properly connected to the hot and cold inlets of the valves. Then check the screens in the valves; if they're clogged, clean or replace them. If water doesn't enter the tub, set the temperature control to the HOT setting. If there is no water, set the control to the WARM setting. If all that comes out is cold water, the hot-water inlet valve is faulty. Reverse the procedure to test the cold-water valve, setting the control first on COLD and then on WARM. If the tub overfills, unplug the washer. If water still flows into the tub, the valve is stuck open. In any of these cases, the valves should probably be replaced. To check the valve assembly:

Step 1: Remove the back service panel and disconnect the hot-water and cold-water hoses to the valves.
Step 2: Remove the hoses connected to the valves inside the cabinet. Also disconnect the wires from the terminals. Back out the screws holding the valves to the machine. The inlet valves have solenoids (a coil of wire that carries a current) inside the housing. These can be tested, but chances are the valves are simply worn out.
Step 3: Tap the solenoids with a screwdriver handle. If this doesn't work, replace the entire inlet valve assembly. Repairs usually cost more than a new part. Make sure the replacement valve assembly is exactly the same type as the old one. Install it in reverse order of the way you disconnected the old one.

SOURCE: I have a GE dishwasher; spray arm at the bottom does not rotate.

make sure that there is nothing blocking the racks, no big pots or pans, if thats ok then take out the bottom rack, u will see the sprayer, use something long, a screwdriver should do, u should see a slot in the sprayer at the bottom, stick the driver through it and give it a turn, it will loosen, take it off and make sure it isnt clogged, also, ull see a little cover that looks like a grate, take that off also and make sure it isnt clogged under neath

When I hit the start button on my GE dishes washer the light in the front is blinking and it will not go on

This sometimes happens when there is a problem with the door latch system or switch. Your door may be closed but the control still thinks it is open. Check the door latch and switch alignment. GE had a problem with the doors dropping slightly about a year ago. the latch looks like a arrow head on top of the door center that pushes into the switch that is mounted on the dishwasher body. If the arrow head is slightly lower than the part on the body you will get the exact problem you are having. GE has hinge shims that they install to raise the door up slightly to fix the problem. Not sure your dishwasher is one of these without a model number.

Model w10311121b no power

Hi Scott. It appears you have the same dishwasher as mine bought in 2010- it worked sporadically for several years. I bought one year warranty ($289) in Feb2014 . Over 2 months, service technicians replaced 3 parts (user control board, motor control board and water sensor) hoping that each would fix it. They told me to run hot water before starting a wash cycle. Dish washing cycle failures were still sporadic and it finally lost all power in May2014. Service techs would not come out so I confirmed house power supply with a multimeter and then took the door apart to access the latch. I determined the latch kill circuit was not assembled properly and it had carbon buildup which I scraped off.

If your warranty has ended and you attempt this, do not use a power screw driver with these Torx screws as you can easily strip the threads or damage the plastic user control housing by screwing in too far on the top screws. (especially if you forget to reinstall the internal handle which acts as a spacer).

To disassemble: Remove the top 4 screws and top side screws, loosen the middle and lower side screws as needed. Separate the washer door face wide enough to remove the user control board, let it hang by the cord. The handle will be loose in the way, remove it. The latch has a white plastic kill circuit which is held to the latch with tabs. Unplug the circuit and carefully remove it. The circuit comprises 2 flat metal sheets that are pushed together by the latch lever when the door is shut. These plates separate when the door is open to kill washer power. The latch lever should be under both circuit plates with the shorter plate on the bottom. (long plate, short plate, lever, white housing). Reassemble, remember to include the handle My dishwasher operates properly now.

Ge front loading washer door won't unlock

Some machines do this when the power is cut, there should be what looks like a screw heat on the front of the handle which will allow you to unlock the door and open it. If there is still water inside you will need to empty the machine first. There is usually a hatch at the bottom of the unit, open this hatch and you will find a cap to unscrew, unscrewing this cap will empty the contents of the machine onto your floor so be prepared!!!!!

I have to replace the handle / latch assembly on a GE Monogram Dishwasher Model #ZBD6600G03SS. For the love of me I can't see how to do it. Do I have to get at it from inside, outside, both sides...

Hi

If the dishwasher door will not latch on your GE Monogram dishwasher and it is a new appliance, check that the door is not hitting screws or cabinets underneath the counter. For a new dishwasher, you might also need to push in the top of the control panel as you latch the door. The new gaskets might not have had time to seat properly. It may be necessary to run up to 10 dishwasher cycles for the heat from the washer to seat the gasket, which becomes more flexible after it is used a few times. For older Monogram dishwashers, check the loading rack to be sure no dishes are protruding beyond the back or front of the racks and that no dishes have fallen through to the lower rack. If dishes are dangling down into the lower rack, they could stop the lower rack from completely rolling into the dishwasher and could also stop the spray arm from rotating. Check that no silverware is obstructing the door.

I have a GE dishwasher model GSD1100G and the door will not latch now. Any ideas?

Yessir, I have a few.
1. Check the latch and strike. Usually, they're just loose.
2. Check the wiring to the switch. The lock and latch take a good bit of vibration being opened and closed.
3. Take a good look at the latch for physical damage. It happens. Your only recourse here is probably to replace the latch.
4. You didn't mention if the washer would run; the door latch is a permissive switch - if the washer will run, the switch is making contact, but the latch is defective. If it won't run, either the latch switch is bad, or the issue may be the control panel.
