You need to reset fax settings first, go to the "Service" under the printers Main Menu and click on "Restore Defaults"
And then set the following settings under Fax Setup > Fax Receive Setup :
Answer Mode: Automatic
Rings to Answer: 2
Distictive Ring: All Rings
Now go to "All faxes" and change this settings:
Error correction : OFF
Fax Speed: Medium v.17
If you are using a digital line it would be a good idea installing a filter for the line

The scanner in your FAX is nothing working -- i.e., "100%-black" or "100%-white", and so what is transmitted is what the scanner has scanned, improperly.
