My hp desktop computer will not turn on

I push the button and nothing happens...we shut it down normally a week ago before we went out of town for a week and when we came home it would not turn on...we have never had a problem with the computer and it is about a year and a half old. My power went out at my house. Of course everything shut down and restarted but the computer would not turn back on.

Tried to plug it into another outlet but still won't come on. The surge protector is working because there are other things plugged into it.

Next...Is there an LED on the back of your computer near where the power cable goes in? Is it on (green)?

If it is on, (or you don't have one) open the case and see if there is a green LED on your motherboard that is lit.

    Comment back.

Is it plugged into a power strip? Is there other hardware plugged into the same strip? Is it working? If not, is there a reset on the strip? Have you checked the circuit breaker (or fuse) for the outlet you are using? Also make sure your power cord is firmly connected to the computer. Comment back.

If you cant see or heard any boot up sounds, fans and especially if you dont see any power or green led lights at all ;

If your power cord is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, power cycle your strip or surge protector by turning off and on.

If power outlet has a wall switch make sure its on

Check that your power cable is securely plug in to both ends

Check that at the back of computer, specifically on the back of the power supply unit that the switch is on "1" position and NOT on the "0" position ( 1 is "ON" , 0 is "OFF" )

Check that the power outlet is not damaged by pluging in another good known device (such as a blowdryer, shaver, lamp, radio, etc, etc) to see if its the power outlet or not.

Can you see power or green led lights and hear the fan on but no display ? If this is the case , check your monitor connection at both ends. If they are secured open up your case and see if you can smell any burnt smell or check that all cards especially video cards are properly seated.

Behind every operation you do there is always an update that goes along with it. If you can re-open your computer and remove the power supply connector wait till 30 seconds and then reconnect the connector it will reset the motherboard for a moment and to sustain is to shut down the computer after the Windows Update completes the update on your system. A glitch will only happen when the system runs out of resources and then dumps everything into memory. If there is space in the memory then if not then it will crash definitely.

After start button is pushed several low buzzes is heard

Better check that power supply & where it plugs in at out. Also, make sure all the connections are plugged in tight inside. Never assume that a replaced part is good & if you went after-market for the power supply, don't go super cheap. Buy a good one with a good warranty & the same if not more juice than the original.

Computer will not turn on

It sounds like your power switch (the buttone you push to turn on the computer) is stuck, or you have a bad power supply (that provide power to the computer). Electric components sometimes go back if they are not used often.

My hp desktop computer will not turn on

Most likely the power supply has failed. This is the device that the cord plugs into in the back of the computer. They can be purchased for around $20 - $50 depending on where you go. Then you just remove the four screws holding it in, remove all the internal plugins and reconnect the new power supply. Oh and please take a moment to rate this solution as fixya. Thanks! :c)

I have a brand new acer aspire one. A moment ago, when I wanted to open it, I saw that the green light on its top right, that is, at its "start" button was on, and the battery was a bit displaced at one...

Most likely your laptop is going into sleep mode. Lots of them do not like sleep mode if nothing happens when you push the power button try to hold it down for about 5 sec. your computer should power off and then you can start as normal. If this problem persists change the options in your control panel to turn sleep mode off. That should solve it.
