I think that it's a door switch error.
Open the door and locate the door switch. Exercise the switch with your finger about twenty times then try the dryer again. You may have to replace the door switch.
Check youtube for help videos on replacing the door switch.

My dryer works fine...heats tumbles the timer just doesnt advance once it starts therefore the dryer wont turn off on its own

the cycling and the hi limit thermostats.
For continuity or OHMS. If no ohms or resistance they need replacement.

In some dryer's the control panel relies on a thermistor rather than a CYCLING thermostat to regulate the drum's air temperature by monitoring the component's resistance changes; resistance goes down as temperature increases and up when temperature decreases. Once the drum's air temperature reaches a certain level required to dry clothes, the control panel shuts off the heater. The panel will turn the heater on again and begin another heating cycle when the thermistor indicates that more heat is needed to keep the air temperature constant inside the drum

Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet.
Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.
A failed moisture sensor will affect the dryer run time in the automatic moisture sensing cycle but it will not affect the heating of the dryer or the timed cycle. Which are reflected by the thermostats.

Kenmore 110.60812990 will not stop

if it's not advacing in time dry you have a bad timer, that timer should count down no matter what the dryer is doing,if you have it in auto then it could be no heat, when it's in auto or more or less cycle the heat comes on and the timer won't move until the heat shuts down, when the heat is off timer advances, when the heat starts the timer stops,it will do this until the clothes are dry and then timer will shut off but in timed cycle, timer isn't counting down get a new timer.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care 2 LEQ8000JQ3 w/ Accudry- how do I make sure the Accudry feature works properly when I replace element?

The orange wire mounted to the 250 limit at the base of the heating element connects to the timer motor. When the element is on the motor cannot move forward in autodry. When the element is off the timer motor slowly advances. that is how it works. If you small limit on top is blown you have a restriction in your venting system or a clogged filter chute or a bad cycling thermostat. I worked on one and did a video recently. Dryer is taking too long to dry clothes, even on AccuDry setting for Jeans/towels - it still is heating, just not heating enought to dry clothes, I have been doing two cycles at least for a very small...

Your house vent is restricted causing the long time to dry complaint.
Please clean the entire vent to the outside.
Also make sure the vent behind the dryer does not get smashed when the dryer is pushed back to the wall.
