In this case what i would request u to do is....... Take out both the catridges from the Printer......... Take 2 Paper Towels one should be wet with Luke warm water and the other one should be dry........... Take the Colour catridge first turn it upside down and u will see a small copper plate on the catridge from where the ink comes out....... Place the wet paper towel using ur thumb on the Copper plate and press it a lit bit for 10 Seconds...... Now remove it and see whether u see any ink on the paper towel.......... U should see some ink on it now place the dry paper towel on the ink catridge in the same way........ Now do the same procedure again.......... Do the same procedure twice on the Black Catridge................. Now take the dry paper towel and turn the direction of the cartridge so that u can see a Copper plate on it with small boxes just clean that copper plate with the Dry Paper Towel.......... Know insert both the catridges inside the Printer.................. Now turn on the Printer and chk......... Good Luck

My canon mp 730 has an alarm lit and says wrong cartridge. I tried removing print head and cleaning with alcohol...no luck...put in a different cartridge...no luck. What else can I do

On Canon that error means the printhead is bad, nothing to do with the inks. The translation from Japanese to English made the error confusing. You need to buy a new printhead, the part number is on the side of the printhead and starts with QY6-

Canon MP700 - Wrong Cartridge

Hello !

Many cartridges now have expiration date chips built into them. So, since you mentioned that the cartridges are "old", they may have expired. Check the date.

Hope this helps.

Wrong cartridge means that the printhead is bad. Don't take it apart yet, you need a printhead.

MP 730 Printer alert flashing "wrong cartridge"

I had the same problem. I removed the cartridges and then the printerhead. I cleaned the printerhead with a piece of cloth and then replaced it and then the cartridges. This seems to have fixed the "wrong cartridge" problem for now. I was told by a friend that if the problem persits, replacing the printerhead may be a more permanent solution, but no guarantee.

I went to canon and found the solution. It took a couple attempts, but it finally worked and I am up and running again. Under 10 minutes.
