You might be using old compiler. Use a latest compiler such as Turbo C++ 4.5 or later. The older versions 2.0 and 3.0 does not support exceptions.

did you add any new hardware or software just before this error started. If this is a Windows PC you can go into the safe mode and remove the bad software. You can also (if you can) remove or disable the hardware. Reboot into the PC as normal and see if you are still getting the error.

Is showing fatal error 05 if i conact it with the tv and the pc is not showing my iomega? what to do ?

The main reason are :-
  • Access to an illegal instruction has been encountered
  • Invalid data or code has been accessed
  • The privilege level of an operation is invalid
When any of these cases occurs, the processor returns an exception to the operating system, which in turn is handled as a fatal exception error. In many cases the exception is non-recoverable and the system must either be restarted or shut down, depending upon the severity of the error.

Says that a uncaught exception:java lang.nullpoinereException

suppose you have declared a array of 5 ( ie 0-4 ) and you are entering the value for 6 or we can say more than 5 then you will receive this error and also you have not declared the catch block or exception block for this exception to handle the error .

What does Dim, Try , Me , Private Sub means in Visual Basic

Dim allows you to declare a variable. It is short for "Dimension", and is an old old keyword. For example if you want to declare a variable called i that can hold an integer you would write:
Dim i As Integer
The Try keyword is used to allow you catch errors when they occur. If you didn't catch them, they would cause the program to end with an error report.
Try ' Code goes in here that might throw an error Catch Ex As Exception ' Code goes here to deal with any error End Try
The Me keyword refers to the current instance of the class in which the word appears. For example if the class is called Form1, then Me allows you to refer to the current instance of the class when the code is running.
Private Sub is formed from two Keywords. Private is an "Access modifier". When applied to a Sub it means that the Sub would not be visible outside the class. Sub is short for "Subroutine". A subroutine is a section of code that performs some useful function that you might want to run many times. For example you might want to do something whenever a button is clicked, and so you would write a subroutine with code in that will run whenever the button is clicked.
It would be better to ask programming questions in a visual basic forum. There are many on the internet. Search the internet for "visual basic forum". Also note that when you are using Visual Studio 2005, you can press the F1 key when you have placed the cursor in a word that you do not understand, and it will open the help and the relevant page.
These terms are very very difficult to understand when you have never programmed before. Usually it is best to take a lot of it on faith, and move on through the book or example that you are following without completely understanding it all. Over time, with practice, repetition and perseverance you will start to develop an understanding of the underlying concepts. They are hard to explain and hard to learn.

Hi sjt916,

Unfortunately the only way to fix this is to reinstall the program. Somehow the installation has become corrupt and is conflicting with a windows operation producing an error.

Please tell me how it goes.

Excel formula

The IF() is the wrong one to use. Use "Iif()", as in:

=IiF(A3='Audit Exception Register'!B:B, COUNTIF('Audit Exception Register'!P:P,Y), 0)

See:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=799

Caveat about using Iif(), one that doesn't probably apply in this case, but keep it in mind: Don't use Iif when trying to return the values of "real" objects. Examples of "non-real" objects in the VB/A world are:

String
Integer, Double, etc... all the numeric "objects"
Boolean

These are fine to use in IIf() statements. If however you will be returning some value that is part of an object, as in:

Iif(x=2, myObject.getSomeVal(), 0)

You run the very real risk that is myObject is null, your program will simply stop running. Iif() will NOT return a null error/exception; it will in fact just stop. This is a bug in the VB interpreter and/or in the Iif() function itself.

I am referring here to classic VBA (ie, pre-VB dot-Net). How .NET handles such cases, I don't know.
