1 Answer

Cant get to the router webpage.

So i type in http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar. i type in admin as the username and nothing as the password. It comes up with a website but nothing is on the page. When i try other usernames and passwords it says access denied. I reset the password and tried admin again with no password. Then the same thing happened. A page came up that was just blank white.

Try admin as the password and username.
That is the default password. Please make sure you reset the password once you get in as to keep your router secure.

I CANT ACCES TO THE BELKIN PAGE , I NEED SECURITY IN MY ROUTER

First you need to know the access ADMIN Username and Password for your router?
If you have the access then you can configure your router manually.

Identify what IP address of your gateway.
>Start>CMD>IPCONFIG
(check what IP address you have in gateway. use that ip address to access your router)
example.
>launch internet explorer then type the IP address into the address bar.

you will be redirected to a page will it asked for username and password.
then you need to enter the information.
if you dont know the admin un and pw contact your ISP.
but most of the default UN and PW is
Username: admin
Password: admin

once you able to get into the GUI of your router then go to configuration for the PW to lock your network.

I am trying to follow the instruction on how to secure my wireless connection. And the first thing i need to see is the router of my computer which i don't know. some sites tells me to type 192.168.1.1 to...

You need to first make sure the router is connected by Ethernet cable.
Depending on the Make of your router there are different ways of logging into the router.
Could be http://192.168.0.1 http://192.168.1.1 http://192.168.2.1 http://192.168.1.254
Username: Admin or User (Try both cases) Password: Password or Admin or Leave Blank (Try both cases)
Onces you have logged onto the router you should be able to locate the settings for the Wireless encryption.

Says limited connectivity how to fix

Open a new tab in internet explorer or whatever brower you are reading this webpage in and click the address in the address bar once so it all goes blue (i.e. http://www.google.com/ or it may already be blank in most cases). Keep this Fixya page open to refer back to.
Type (without quotes) "192.168.0.1" into your internet explorer address bar (typing after highlighting in blue should automatically delete all of the old text - if not delete it with the 'Delete' key).
In most cases (unless changed) type the username and password which by default are 'Username: admin - Password: password'
Click the ADSL link and verify you are connected to the internet. If not telephone your internet service provider to verify your broadband username and password.
Click the wireless link and verify your wifi password is correct and you are connecting to the right broadcast (know as your SSID)
If this fails more info can be found here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/
Please rate my solution if it helped.

HOW CAN I RESET MY NETWORK KEY PASSWORD?

Steps to find a WEP key:

1. Open a browser (the program used to access the internet).

2. Type the following into the address bar of the browser. If using a Belkin router type "192.168.2.1". The address bar is the area where webpages are typed. It is important when typing in that there is NO www. before the numbers, but do put http://

3. If all has gone well this should open a page that says Belkin.

3. There may be the need to login. When using a Linksys if you don't know what the username and password are it may still be the factory settings, and so enter in "admin" for the username and "password" for the password. If using a Belkin router, the factory settings often come with no password, so just click submit without typing in a password.

4. Click on a) "Wireless" or b) "settings".

5. Click on a) "Wireless security" or b) "wireless settings".

6. There should be a page with a WEP key listed.

7. Write it down/copy and use as you wish!

If I reset my router, do I need the CD to reconfigure or change the password

You don't actually need the CD to reconfigure your router or change the password or anything related to your router. So long as the router is connected to your computer via ethernet cable you can access the browser configuration page of your router.

1. connect your router to your computer via ethernet cable

2. If you are using Windows XP
- click start
- click run
- type cmd
- in the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
- look for the default gateway (example 192.168.1.1)
- Open Internet explorer
- type in the address bar: http://the default gateway (example http://192.168.1.1) then press enter and it'll ask you for the password
- usually the username is blank and the password is admin or the username is admin and the password is pass or password

If you are using Windows Vista / Windows 7
- Click the pearl button
- Click on start search at the bottom of the pop-up window
- type cmd (don't press enter yet)
- right click the black icon on the top of the window after typing cmd
- click on the run as administrator
- click on continue if there's a prompt
- in the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
- look for the default gateway (example 192.168.1.1)
- Open Internet explorer
- type in the address bar: http://the default gateway (example http://192.168.1.1) then press enter and it'll ask you for the password
- usually the username is blank and the password is admin or the username is admin and the password is pass or password

After successful accessing the configuration page you can now configure your router freely.

HOW DO I FIND MY NETWORK KEY NUMBER ?

Unfortunately, you cant 'recover' your network password. You will need to reset the router and apply a new password. In order to do this, you need your laptop or computer near the router and an ethernet cord connecting the two. Simply follow these directions.

1.) on the back of the unit is a small pin hole with the word RESET above it. hold this down for about 30 seconds. this is a hard reset.

2.) connect your pc to one of the routers ports and open your browser (no worries if you cant get to perezhilton.com yet, it will only take a moment)

3.) in your browsers address bar, type "http://192.168.1.1". This is the URL to access the router.

4.) you will see a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router. The default username and password will be either:
a.) username= [blank] ; password= admin
b.) username= admin; password = admin

5.) Once you re past the login screen, you can reconfigure the router.

6.) Go to the management tab and chance the admin password to something else so other people cant access your router.

7.) Your router should work after you apply these settings and restart your computer but i HIGHLY suggest enabling either WEP or WAP security.
