Ge profile top loader "fill" knob broken

The capacity knob broke as I was turning it to the "reset". Do we take off the entire panel to try to fix?

If it came off cleanly no, but if the glue they sometimes use has a piece unattainable to your grasp, then yes.

Dial won't set

you can possibly remove the knob itself, and see if you can turn the dial itself. if you can, then you can probably see the knob is broken. if if the shaft turns, but doesn't move the gears, then you will just need a new dial switch.

I can no longer set the water level on my GE WPRE615. I'm guessing I need to remove the top panel to replace the knob - but how do I remove the knobs so I can remove the panel?

They usually just slide up off the shaft. There may be a tiny grub screw holding them in place but you will only tell that if you look closely all round the knob itself.

I have a ge profile top load washer and the knob is broken how do I remove it to fix it? The cycle knob just spins I am unable to wash,

I would look at some of the internet appliance parts sites for a replacement part. Uusally a good illustration will give you a clue as to how it is attached. You can also contact GE internet site.

TOP LOADER KENMORE WASHER FILLS UP BUT DOES NOTHING ELSE.

Sounds like belt is broken. Open front cover and look at belt, if broke replace. If not broke try unplugging for 2 minutes, plug back in then open and close lid 7 times slowly, this should reset the electronic motor.

Ge timer on washer is broken

If it no longer clicks, the timer assembly will need to be replaced. If just the knob broke off, the timer should be good.

GE top load Super Capacity 16 cycle washer (one year old)

We have a GE WJRR4170 washer, with the same problem. At first I thought I might have to unscrew the entire control panel just to replace the knob. However, replacing it turns out to be easy.

Right behind the knob, holding it in place, is a nylon/plastic retainer clip. If you pull out the knob (into the "start" position), you can use a flathead screwdriver to push the clip out. The knob then will slide easily off the metal stem. A GE replacement knob costs $9 or $10, depending on the source.

Shame on GE, but the knob is designed terribly. The part of it that engages the dial has eight, flimsy plastic teeth. At any time, four of these are supposed to engage four little slots in the dial. However, the way the knob is designed, there will be a lot of wear and tear on these plastic teeth, so they'll wear out on every single machine.

Good luck to the many people who will have this problem!
