Question about Acer Aspire M1641-U1521A PC Desktop
There are a number of possible causes for BOOTMGR errors, including the most common "BOOTMGR is missing" error message.
The most common reasons for BOOTMGR errors include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors an outdated BIOS and damaged or loose IDE cables
Anothe reason you might see BOOTMGR errors is if your PC is trying to boott from a hard drive or flash drive that is not properly configured to be booted from. In other words, it's trying to boot from a non-bootable source. This also would apply to media on an optical drive or floppy drive that you're trying to boot from. make sure there are no disks in cd floppy usb drives Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA the leads from your ((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE)) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty if its a flat ribbon 40 pin IDE it will be the fist to fail Make sure all power and data leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs Data and Power to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error. also make sure you have set it boot from you hard drive in BIOS Restart your computer and enter BIOS mode. On most computers this is done by pressing the Delete ot F2 key but will vary depending on your computers bios other keys Acer: - Ctrl+Alt+Esc , ALR PC: (F2) or (Ctrl)(Alt)Esc) , Award BIOS: (Del) or (Ctrl)(Alt)(Esc).
Scroll over to the "Hard Drives" tab, and make sure your computer has the hard drive assigned to be on. Often during BIOS you can select auto-detect or change options with your hard drive to make sure Windows can recognize it. Once you've selected your desired options, continue to boot. or The solutions might be very simply... remove your hard-disk and attached to other PC or laptop as an external hard-disk. When it is detected, go to my computer, right-click, untick that (stupid) option, immediately you see the message uncompressing and its done. Put your hard-disk back in to your machine its ready.. w7 insert your OS CD
go to DOS window and type in your OS driver (usualy C:/
type in bootrec /FixMbr
then type in bootrec /fixboot
then type in bootrec /rebuildbcd
then type in exit
restart your computer
it will work 100% only if you prompt at the same order Hope this helps. BOOTMGR Is Compressed b> The Windows operating system allows you to compress the files on your drive to conserve disk space. In some situations, this compression process will compress files required for the operating system to boot. Files that are compressed must be decompressed prior to execution. Since the operating system has not loaded, boot files cannot yet be decompressed. In this case, the operating system will fail to load and a "BootMgr is compressed" message will appear. An easy way around this problem is to boot from the Windows DVD, and use the provided interface to access your drive properties and decompress it.
Turn on the computer, and insert your Windows DVD. Press a random key on your keyboard once you see the "Press any key..." message. This interrupts booting from the hard drive and forces a boot from the Windows DVD. Click the "Next" button at the bottom of the Windows 7 dialog, and then click the "Repair your Computer" link Below. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa364219(v=vs.85).aspx File Compression and Decompression Select the "Load Drivers" button at the bottom of the "System Recovery Options" dialog, and click the "OK" button on the "Add Drivers" dialog. This opens a file browser on your screen. Click the "Computer" icon, which is located on the left hand side of the screen. This displays an icon for your disk drive. Right-click your hard drive, and click "Properties. " This opens a Local Disk Properties dialog. Click to deselect the "Compress this drive..." option at the bottom, and then click the "Apply" button. Select the "X" icon to close the file browser window. This takes you back to the Install Windows dialog. Press the "X" icon at the corner of the Install Windows dialog. This opens a cancellation dialog. Select the "Yes" button on this dialog to restart your computer. Hope this helps

This was the closest I could find for you. I didn't actually see your exact model. If this doesn't do you any good, the only other bet would be going directly to acer through their tech support or email to have them send one. Most likely it will be an email with the document attached.

Actually WinXP SP3 should help your problem but if that don´t work than maybe you can try to install XPSP3 in another computer and try to install into your Acer Aspire*

Yes, you will need to reinstall the drivers for individual hardware.
Go to http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/
Click on Desktop>Aspire>M1641 and the available downloads will be listed.
These drivers wil be downloaded in .zip format. They will have to be extracted to their full size after downloading. If you are not familiar with doing so, just Comment back and we will try to guide you.
Thanks for using Fixya.
