I have successfully connected a 1 terrbyte external USB hard drive to my DISH slingloaded 992 Receiver via the front panel USB port. The 992 has successfully formatted the drive. I have also transfrerred a program for later viewing to the external drive. But now I cannot get the external drive to play back the shifted content. I keep getting the message "Playback Over" and then cannot rewind or playback the shifted program. Anyone know what's going on?

Sounds like the video file didn't copy correctly. Try and copy the file again and then try to play it again.

Beeping and not detected external hard

Beeping usually happens when the harddisk does not get enough power.
Try 2 things: 1. a smaller cable, 2. USB port at the back panel on a PC.
Front panel USBs are shared, also try removing everything connected to front USB ports.

I am just wondering if anyone has tested the new freview dish tv satelite receiver yet. If so have u tested if you can transfer programs from the box to your pc via usb or not. It says on the first page...

If I understand you correctly, you want to know if you connect an external hard drive to your DISH Network receiver, can you transfer the recorded contents to your PC? If that is what you are asking, the answer is no. When you connect the EHD to your receiver, you can transfer recorded events from the receiver's HD to the EHD for extra storage and view the contents from the EHD but you can't transfer the contents from the EHD to your PC. When you plug the EHD into your PC, it will ask you to reformat the HD, which if you do reformat, you will lose all the contents on the HD. I hope this helps.

Have iMac ejected hard drive so I could remove now computer won't recognise the hard drive

First thing I would do if the drive is connected via a usb hub connect it directly to the imac, then if that does not work try one of the other usb ports. If that does not work connect it to a usb port you know works and then go into the applications folder and then into the utilities forlder and open up disk utility. Once opened your hard drive should appear in the left hand box click on your external hard drive then go to the first aid panel and run verify disk and if any problems appear run repair disk. Hope this helps.

Copy shows from dishnetwork 510 receivers to external hd

ic_technolog,

External Hard Drives are not supported on the 510 receiver. The 211, 211k, 411, 612, 622, 722, 722k, and 922 are all capable of having an external hard connected via the USB port on the receiver and a one time activation fee of $40. I hope this helps.

Unit keeps trying to power up but does not. I need to get my recording from this receiver. Is there anyway to do this?

genman629,

You can connect an external hard drive to the receiver using the USB port. You need to activate the USB port by calling DISH Network at 1-800-333-3474. There is a one time charge of $40 to activate this feature. Since the receiver is not powering on, this option would not work unless the receiver does stay on. The only other option would be to replace the receiver which means the recordings would be lost. I hope this helps.

Recovery of content on DVR-625 hard drive

usually hard drive failure boils down to files not opening succesfully, or a random internal failure, not a physical issue with the hard drive, however because dish network repairs these issues on a large scale the fix is to wipe the software and start over which means all recordings are lost, unfortunately recovering these recordings is basically impossible... if you often record things which are imperative to your business i would suggest getting a 622/722 dvr which will allow you to download these recordings to an external hard drive via usb, you will have unlimited use uploading and downloading programs for a one time fee of about 40$
