SOURCE: Ballast error status - lamp voltage too high

You need to replace the balast as the voltages are buringing the bulb out and this is caused by a balast that is bad. The baslast is what the bulb connects to this has a sensor on it that relays voltages and heat back to the main control unit.

Lamp never fires Unit goes right to cool/shutdown.

The ballast might have gone bad, you'll need to check the output voltage of it. In some projectors, the power supply/ballast are combined as one PCB instead of 2 separate boards.

Hello my name is Devin, I have a wd-65735 model and I just purchased it off of a friend and braught it home. He had told us from laying it on its side while bringing it home it said in the guide to let it...

Caveat: I am not a tech, I just read through the Mitsubishi service manual, and have worked on different model TV that I have owned (older model of this one) I am a little unclear on the second set of lights but I think the combination *may* indicate that the lamp fan is not starting (there are two fans though), if the blinking red is the status light. It is possible the connector for that got jostled during the trip, something fell into it from being on the side (wire or loose something) and is blocking it from spinning now, or a module unseated a bit,and is loose, or the lamp is no longer seated correctly (though the lamp light does not appear to be on) or none of these. :) These are just guesses.
Be careful if you open it up, due to potential for shock. Wear gloves, and power it down first (then unplug). Reseat any fan connectors.

Google: I used "wd-65735 status lights" to find a service pdf , it's for V39 chassis (several models)

From page 24 of Service Manual :

3. Error Code Operational Check Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Opera- tional Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error.
Pressing the front panel "INPUT" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds, activates the Error Code Mode. The "TIMER LED" flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem has occurred since the last Initialization.
Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

Wd-60737 mitsubishi blinking yellow status light ?

Mitsubishi TV troubleshooting
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected

I have a NEC VT470 Projector. The power light is steady orange and the status light blinks red 6 times.

steady orange means projector in standby mode
red light 6 times is a lamp error.
either the lamp is old and wont start up or the ballast power pcb is not working.
can you hear the sparking of the high voltage trying to strike the lamp.
if you can then the lamp may be dodgy.
can you borrow one to test it out

JVC DLP MOD#HD55G466 what is the voltage from power supply to ballast and into the lamp.I have no voltage to the lamp could it be ballast?

Hi,
Ballast board gets voltage from power supply connector CN90BL and volts readings are as follows:
Pin-1 = 380V DC
Pin-2 = Ground
Pin-3 = 15V DC
and output of ballast board would be 12,000 volts AC that goes to lamp to generate spark in its electrodes to produce high bright light.

If you get volts on input of ballast board but still lamp does not fire up then ballast board is not working.
Ballast board part number is QAL0765-001 and available with tv-part.com for $125
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

My PT-61LCX65 all of a sudden turned itself off and the Lamp indicator LED is blinking once every 5 sec. It will not power up. Can it be the lamp?

That is most probably the lamp. In some case the lamp is fine and the problem is the lamp high voltage board (ballast board).

The most coomon is always the lamp. The lamp cannot be tested . The ballast board must be tested by a technician.

The normal operation in this case is replaceing the lamp that cannot be tested. then, if you are within that 2% of the cases with ballast problem you replace the lamp power board or call a technician.

You can find parts here.

TV WILL NOT POWER UP

The ballast uses open ended high voltage. Both the start current, and the running voltage must be verified.

Normaly the ballast is replaced unless you have the test jigg which is essentialy the specified lamp simulator.

If there is a sensor fault that indicates there may be a potential cooling problem, or an unsafe fault condition (bad socket), or if the lamp is sensed as being defective, the ballast will be shut down.

Tv keeps turning off?

cutta, you will most often hear a click on boot then the fans start up and lamp will then fire. The picture will start to show up....at what point does it shut off? and do you hear a click when the tv is turning off? Is it the complete tv shutting down, fans and everything that turns off? Do you see any lights on the the front panel "POWER", "STATUS" or "LAMP", what are they doing? If you see a Power, Status or Lamp light after it shuts off the below are what they mean if there is an issue. POWER - STATUS - LAMP - CONDITION/ISSUE: Off - Yellow - Off - Temp. high/dirty filter/excess room temp Off - Off - Yellow - 4000 hrs. Lamp usage warning Off - Off - Blink Yellow - Lamp Cover open Off - Blink Yellow - Off - Air Filter Cover open Off - Off - Red - Lamp failure (failed to turn On or broken) Off - Blink Red - Off - Fan Has Stopped Off - Red - Off - Circuit failure (short) or DVI cable disconnected If you want to check for the last "Error Code", after you first turn the TV on, by pressing the front panel ?DEVICE? and ?MENU? buttons at the same time and holding them for 5 seconds, it activates the Error Code Mode. The ?Power LED Light? blinks/flashes (1/2 sec delay) and then flashes again denoting a two digit Error Code indicating no problem or an error has occured since the last Initalization. i.e. "Power light" blinks 3 times (1/2 second delay) and then blinks 4 times then 1 sec delay and repeats a few times. This would mean "Error 34 - Lamp abnormality". See below for error codes..... Error Code - Description or issue 12 - No Error detected, check Power Supply 32 - Lamp Cover is open 33 - Air Filter Cover is open 34 - Lamp abnormality 36 - Light Engine (DMD or LAMP Fan stopped) 37 - Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped 38 - Lamp temperature high 39 - DMD temperature high 41 - Short is detected 44 - DVI cable between FMT & Engine disconnected. Sorry for the long answer but it was an open ended question.
