I have tried the factory reset and tried it with and without speakers. Unfortunately neither fixed the problem.

Apologies for giving negative feedback to the first two advisors. This is my first time on FixYa and I can't see how to change the feedback!

Tried the reset but still no good. Any ideas which components to change first?

I think Noggin is on the right lines for unit but I think in his description he forgot to mention that you need to press 1 Disconnect the mains lead. 2 Reconnect the mains lead. 3 Press power to turn on the system. 4 Press TAPE [], CD [] and power on the unit. The system is reset to the factory settings. You should set the settings you made, such as the preset stations, clock, and timer.

You can reset all to factory settings, which may help; unplug power, put back in switch on with power button. Then press together "tape", "CD" and the power button. You may need to reset the clock before it will work. If you need the manual, here is the link; http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/2048589112.pdf check page 26 for the reset if not clear - nothing else in there that seems to be related, but you may find something i missed. Hope this helps :)

if you wish to change the rating for a premium solution, please just click "report abuse" and describe what you need to change.

Sorry didn't work, leave the problem rated unsolved for a while to see if anyone else has any ideas.

I will search around again for any possible solutions in the next couple of days, but i Think the main control board is probably fried if the reset/speakers didn't change anything

You can also try and disconnect the speakers and see if the unit comes on. If it does, connect up the speakers till the unit shuts down. That will be the bad speaker. you will need to have the bad speaker replaced or repaired. If the unit will not reset by unplugging it and replugging the main power, there is a problem in the main amp or the main power supply. Good Luck

If the reset does not work,or if taking the speakers off,the unit has a power supply or audio output problem and will need a shop to have a look if you have no solid state repair experience.

Tdk cd player stereo system stuck on standby. the red standby light is on the only thing I have done since it was last working yester day is remove and reinsert the speakers from the unit.

Try resetting by leaving disconnected completely from the mains for 2mins. Throughout this time frame keep your finger pressed on the power/standby button.

Sky box green light on permanent

Sounds as if the software is corrupt. Try a forced software update...

1) Switch the digibox off at the mains power, so no lights are displayed on the unit
2) Press and hold the BACK UP button on the digibox (not the remote control)
3) Whilst holding, switch the digibox back on at the mains power so the red standby light is displayed
4) Wait approximate. 10-20 seconds for the remaining 3 lights to display, at which point you can release the BACK UP button
5) Allow the digibox to download the latest software, which can take 10 minutes before returning to standby
6) Leave 60 seconds then power up as usual

A software update/refresh will leave your recordings intact. You won't lose anything.

If this doesn't solve your problem, then the next step is more drastic. It's a Full System Reset and Planner Rebuild. Be advised though: Your recordings are at risk!

1) Switch your digibox on
2) In sequence, press on your remote 'SERVICES > 4 > 0 > 1 > SELECT' (this will access the hidden menu)
3) Select the relevant option (usually the bottom two) and follow the on-screen prompts (note that it's likely your digibox will reboot between processes)
Applies to Sky+HD Digiboxes only, running latest EPG
1) Press Services on your remote control. 'Options' in the Top Menu will be highlighted in orange.
2) Press the Right arrow once to highlight 'Settings' in the Top Menu.
3) Now press the Down arrow once to highlight the 'settings' tab in the Middle Menu.
4) Press 0, 0,1, Select on your remote in quick succession. The 'Setup' tab will then be highlighted within a hidden menu.
5) Select the relevant option and follow the on-screen prompts (note that its likely your digibox will reboot between processes)
Sky Digibox Planner Rebuild / Full System Reset (if stuck in standby)
Applies to Sky+ and Sky+HD Digiboxes only

Same as above, but applies if your digibox is stuck in standby and you cannot get to the hidden menu:

1) Switch the digibox off at the mains power, so no lights are displayed on the unit
2) Press and hold the 'right and left arrow' buttons on the digibox (not the remote control)
3) Whilst holding, switch the digibox back on at the mains power so the red standby light is displayed
4) Wait approximate. 30 seconds for the blue Sky+ ring of lights to display, at which point you can release the 'right and left arrow' buttons
5) Press 'SELECT' on the digibox (not the remote control)
6) Now the system will format the hard drive, the blue Sky+ ring of lights should spin backwards
7) Allow the system to format, which can take 10 minutes before returning to standby
8) Try to power up!

Stuck minidisc

Turn the power off and back on at the mains. With the machine now in standby, press and hold the "Play Mode" and "Minidisc Play/Pause" buttons together. The machine will enter test mode and the disc should eject. Switch the power on and off again at the mains and the machine should be back to normal.

Flashing standby message.

Are any of the buttons not making a click feel when you press them like maybe one is stuck?? You didnt say if the same thing happen with the radio as did with the cd. If it is then a switch is stuck or bad or a problem with the switch matrix for the Microprocesor . Only way to trouble shoot this is I would use a scope and check all of the matrix {ie scann lines as well as input lines for distortion or noise and make sure when the buttons are pussed that they change and switch accordinly. If they dont then the processors bad. Good luck
