Try pushing the menu button and selecting "shooting menu". There you should find options for: Image Mode, Whire Balance, Continuous Shooting, ISO, and Color options.
Setting the White Balance to "Auto" actually produces the most accurate and reliable results.

Zelloydog , Thank you for your reply but in my camera under the menu button there is no shooting menu. I think software problem could be there, but I've update it according to the new version of firmware though the problem is not solved. Is there any way to change or update the main software as like the changing the BIOS software of computer motherboard?

Not officially. That would require some hacking, which is way beyond me. I would post your problem to the the Nikon Service and support page:http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Service-And-S...

SOURCE: Can't transfer photos on new computer

You may download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software from here.

You might want to consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Nikon Transfer or Picasa.

It would help to know if the lens extends when you turn on the camera. Assuming it does and that you have made a setting error rather than a functional issue; reset your menu settings. If you do not have a copy of the L810 instruction manual, you can download it for free at http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/manuals/coolpix/L810RM_CH(11)03.pdf. Go to page 65 and follow the reset instructions. If you still have the problem, contact Nikon Service at 1-800-645-6687 between 9AM and 8PM EST, Monday through Friday for a repair estimate and instructions.

You did not say if you are using a PC or Mac, but in either case, I would go into your operating system's setup menu and change your screen's resolution. For example, if your resolution is set to 1024 X 768, by changing it to a lower resolution such as 800 X 640 your icons will be enlarged.

Nikon D40X stopped auto-focusing yesterday

I had the same problem. My issue was with all my lenses. I solved it by going to the menu and selecting the custom setting menu (pencil icon). Then from the right menu select the AE-L/AF-L and press OK. Then make sure it is set on AE/AF Lock. Presto...all my lenses worked on auto-focus.
