Is not the on/off switch for the brushbar. Vacuum is picking up, but not with the ease or intricate volumes I've come to expect from my Animal.

I have 2 dyson dc07. The cyclone assembly will not spin when dirt is picked up, but when I change them out the vacuum is fine, so I know it is the cyclone assembly. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum.
It sounds to me that you may have a clog but when you said you changed them out the vacuum is fine, so a couple of things, if the vacuum is still under a factory warranty of 1 or 2 years the cyclone assm still would be under a factory warranty. If it is over the 1 or 2 years then you would have to replace the cyclone assm but you may want to check with the Dyson Factory Tech Support / customer Service line as per the problem, and they can ship you the part from the factory or to check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and they may have one in stock or they can order one for you. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

SOURCE: The spinning brush isn't moving

Belt may be off the motor spindle, with the vacuum off try turning the brush by hand, does it turn freely or can you feel the resistance of the motor?

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. Your cleaner is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if it gets tangled with a rug fringe, shoelace etc. After making sure the brushbar is free of threads, hair or other obstructions, you'll be able to reset the cleaner and get the brushbar running again. The brushbar on my dyson is spinning too fast how do i fix it?

I had this problem with the Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner. This model does not have a motor head, but drives the brush bar with the air flow. The brush bar was spinning very fast and the head was not picking up any dirt. The outlet from the brush bar chamber was blocked and the entire air flow was being drawn through the turbo, making the brush bar spin very fast. The solution was to remove the brush bar and and clean the outlet from the brush bar chamber. Note that fluff building up on the filter disk (at the side of the turbo chamber) for the brush bar turbo can reduce the brush bar speed.

Beater brush won't spin but belt is intact and ok. Brush is clean and spins freely by hand.

For your beater brush to spin, you have to meet two conditions:
1) the vacuum cleaner has to be reclined (put your foot on the front and pull back on the handle).
2) The clutch actuator (the dial where you switch between BEAR FLOORS and CARPETS needs to be set to CARPETS).

If the brushbar/beater bar still doesn't spin after that, call the Dyson helpline, they will assist you. If you are saying that the brushbar isn't spinning because it is not picking up any dirt, you may have a loose internal hose, a blockage in the machine or the bristles on the brushbar are worn. Call the Dyson helpline for assistance.

To have the brush spinning again, simply step on the front of the machine, pull back the handle, turn the machine on with the red power button and press the gray button next to the red button - that's the ON/OFF button for the brushbar. If it doesn't spin, press and hold the button down for 10 seconds. If it still doesn't work, call the Dyson helpline, they'll have you open up the cleaner and inspect the belt and brushbar motor and if all else fails, they'll refer you to a local repair dealer in your area to fix it.

Brush bar won't turn on

This is extremely embarrassing, but if I can save you some frustration, I'll gladly swallow the humble pill. I had the same problem, after vacuuming an area rug, the brushbar quit spinning. I let it cool to ambient temperature and tried again, thinking that the auxilliary motor that turns the brushbar may have overheated and tripped a thermal cutout. I even took the unit apart and inspected the brushbar motor to ensure the windings weren't damaged and that the brushes properly engaged the communtator.

Ready for the solution? There's a button right next to the power button that has a picture of a brushbar on it. Guess what it does? It turns the brushbar on and off. I cycled that switch, tried again, and: Ta-dah! It worked.
