Reddy heater has problem staying on

Check the foam filters located in the back, their is also a primary air adjustment slot in the back try adjusting that each time you fire it to see if you can get it to stay on.

Can you see the fuel oil coming out of the nossle? If
not clean it. If it has a cad cell that could be bad or dirty, you might have to bypass it to see if that is the
problem.

When filled with kerosene then plugged in, the heater will kick on for about 3 seconds and the fan will run but it will not ignite, then it shuts off. reddy heater 55, 55000btu. runs on K1 or fuel oil.

I have reddy heater125t the flame lite

It sounds more like airflow and too high of a temp. The fan blades and return vent side must be very clean to keep this big guy pushing the btus out of the heater. A restriction of any kind could cause this overheating situation causing it the shut itself down. If you are confident that air is not the problem, make sure the nozzle that the kerosene comes out of is clean also.
