Been a Quicken user for years and recently went to reconsile an account and noticed some 2007 entries appeared in my 2008 register. Why? How? I had not made an error in the dates.

It's most likely these entries hadn't been reconciled when you did your year end change.

How do you change VAT rate on Quicken 2002


You cannot do this on the normal account register, as you might have done in earlier versions of Quicken. You have to use two special registers, by creating a BUSINESS BILLS and a CUSTOMER INVOICES register. To do this tap the CREATE NEW ACCOUNT button, in the MY FINANCES screen, and select these registers from the dialogue box. When you receive a payment from a customer, open the CUSTOMER INVOICES register. Then... 1. Tap the TYPE box, and choose INVOICE from the drop down list. This will enter INVC into the box. 2. Look at the button under the BALANCE column. Instead of the usual SPLIT button, this is now labelled FORM. Click on this, and a Customer Invoice Form will appear. Fill in the details from the invoice you have received. Under AMOUNT enter the amount received, less VAT. In the V column, enter the symbol for the appropriate VAT RATE, and Quicken will calculate and enter the VAT amount. 3. When you have completed all the required boxes on the form, click the SAVE AND DONE button, and The form will close. 4. You will see that Quicken has entered the details in the correct Registers. I 5. When you produce your VAT REPORT your item will appear with its details in the correct places. I have the same problem. I've been using automated transactions / automatic posting for 20 years, and one day - poof - they stopped working. I deleted all transactions, and entered them as brand new. Still doesn't work. I want my mortgage ENTERED IN THE REGISTER 10 days in advance so I can forecast the balance that far ahead. Getting an "overdue notice" on the quicken screen on the first of the following month is not helpful...!!! I have not been able to solve this. Yet another reason to TURN OFF AUTOMATIC UPDATES to all software. THEY think they know what's best for us. Highly unlikely...

Hi.
If Quicken is shutting down you won't be able to access your accounts.You need to repair the software first.
All you can do is trying to start in safe mode by pressing F8 on startup and check if Quicken can start in safe mode.
If the problem started recently, you can try doing a system restore to a date before the problem started. You find System restore from Start button at:
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
If that does not fix the problem, then you need to reinstall Quicken using the software CD and your licence number. If you choose to reinstall on top of the existing installation you wont loose any setting (repair).
If quicken does not reinstall from current account, then create a new account with administrator privileges and then reinstall quicken from the new account.
If you are still not able to remove and reinstall the software you can try using the free Microsoft utility available here to remove recently installed software.
Note: A new Quicken setup does not delete your data, but there is the chance that data had been previously damaged. In that case you can use a recent backup, or try recovering damaged data, see Basic troubleshooting to correct data file damage

I am attempting to transfer Quicken 2008 qif files to the new IMAC, I just purchased. I made an export file...the IMAC only has Quicken 2007 installed. I have been unable to locate a 2008 or 2009 program...

Updating Chase transactions to my Quicken 2008 software.


I recommend that you contact Chase or Quicken.

FixYa is a great place for help but it is a public forum. It is not safe to go into the level of detail you may need to fix your problem here.

Working directly with your financial institutions will protect you from identity theft or other malicious activity.

It might also be good to get another email address using an alias rather than use your name to post requests. Particularly if you name is really Carl Johns and your street number is 239.

I just installed Quicken Starter 2009 for my wife's accounts. In the process I lost my own Quicken 2008 on the computer. I want both of them. What can i do to show both icons


Quicken Starter can coexist with QuickBooks, but not other versions of Quicken. Quicken Starter is intended for customers who do not have any version of Quicken already installed.

I purchased Quicken 2008. After opening, it crashes right away. What is the cause?


You can check your Windows logs or Quicken forums to find out about that first, then ask here once you've done the basic legwork. I can't help but notice you've caled it an Acer PC Desktop problem but that you've somehow focused in on Quicken 2008; No.

Read the system requirements on Quicken 2008; odds of fuzzy bagels to uneaten lox say your PC doesn't meet them.

1. Downloaded and registered Quicken Deluxe 2008 but did not receive ID and password info that I have previously done with Quicken. 2. Have done a download from bank on 2 accounts, then downloaded data...


That means that there end has had a problem. You will just need to wait until they get there servers working again.

Uncheck "Maximize my register view".

Quicken99 incorrect reconcile date


Boy oh boy ... I thought I was behind! Is this a current question or a very old one - I cannot tell.

Normally quicken will use the last date you recondiled as the start date.

I guess you dont use the download method of reconciling? If you have WWW access on the computer where your Quiocken resides, your financial institution probably offeres this kind of service. My bank does not charge to have Quicken get the info and reconcile. And I can be as up todate as "yesterday" with this method.
