Question about Acer Aspire Z3731-UR21P
Second time this has happened. First time under warranty and returned. They said loose wire and fixed it and it was fine. Now 6 months later same thing. Suddenly no sound. If I put something on from You tube I can see the sound bar moving up and down but no sound comes out.

SOURCE: Monitor screen is off center
Adjust it on your monitor they are not all quitte the same but there must be a button there.Use adjust horizontal if you can find it.
First find your Monitor manual. Then find where it mention something about HorizSync and VertRefresh.
Next open the terminal:
sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Go to the Section "Monitor"
and add the correct HorizSync and HorizSync
CAUTION: Make sure it's correct it can damage your monitor if you use incorrect numbers!
save and exit. Reboot.
Eg. Mine looks like this:
Identifier "DELL P992"
HorizSync 30.0 - 107.0
VertRefresh 48.0 - 170.0
Another way is to backup your /etc/X11/xorg.conf

In most cases like that, where we have screen flickering, first look at the graphics card maybe the signal flex from the back of the screen is well fixed on the motherboard.then if it is well fixed on the board you will need to look at the signal board at the back of the screen maybe it is well fixed if it is not well fixed then fix it properly to solve ur problem then if the problem still persist then u will need to disable the VGA in device manager.to get to device manager u will need to open my computer and after that, u can right-click on it and then click on propertise then click on hardware and then click on device manager where u can disable the VGA.

You will have to disconnect and reconnect the video signal plug located under the upper cover (the one with the power button on it). Best you start with a screwdriver in the very corner).

Additionally I removed a small magnet located under the lid cover (remove 6 screws under rubber placers and lift the lid), which I found next to the video cabling. This could have affected the video signal negatively. Lets see how long this fix lasts.....

I had the Error 0200 problem. First the existing hard drive started to play up, so I replaced it with a new 250GB drive. I started getting the 0200 issue after installing the new drive. I wasn't sure what the problem was, I started to wonder if the old drive had been fine. I took out the drive, and opened up the rest of the covering on the laptop to clean it. I found some fluff around the fan, so cleaned this away. Still the problem existed. I was about to give up thinking it was a motherboard problem, when I came across an article where someone mentioned that taking the hard drive out of it cover fixed the problem. Rather than take the drive out of the casing, I loosened the 4 screws holding the hard drive. I put everything back together, powered it up, and it has now been running for 14 hours continiously without any problems.
Solution, If you have replaced the hard drive, don't tighten the screws holding it in the caseing too tight.

SOURCE: Power cord cuts in and out
There are two places the trouble can be happening, at the adapter plug or at the power jack in the laptop. To determine which one is causing the power loss, hold the plug in the computer steady with your fingers while you wiggle the adapter cable. (If you have access to a voltmeter you can measure the voltage at the plug while you wiggle the cable to see if remains steady.)
If the charge light flickers it's the adapter cord that's bad. Because the wire flexes so much at the plug, it can break inside the insulation and cause the power loss. You either need to replace the adapter or repair it by cutting off the bad end and installing a new plug.
If the charge light remains on with the plug held steady but flickers when you wiggle the plug itself, the trouble is on the main board in the computer. The solder connections at the power jack have broken from the plug flexing and need to be repaired. This involves opening up the computer and getting at the solder side of the main board. It's tedious but relatively simple. If you are not experienced with soldering on small electronics, leave this to a professional shop.
