Question about Abit IL9 Pro Motherboard

1 Answer

Abit IL9 PRO V1.0 mobo

This mobo has a Realtek HD Audio Controller with ALC883 Codec which Windows 7 Beta won't recognize. I get no sound. I tried Vista drivers 1.97, 2.13, 2.14 installed in Vista compatibility mode, no luck.

Dude we're totally in the same boat. I've tried almost everything with no luck. This is frustrating.

Sound glitch when browsing web

That is a difficult problem to assess without knowing your setup. You could have an emi interference between a monitor and audio cable, a low memory situation where your system hesitates to use page filing(hard disk access as memory), or you may need an updated audio driver. Look at each of these issues and the latest Realtek ALC883 audio codec driver should be available at the Realtek website. http://www.realtek.com/

There are a couple of different versions of your board. This is Asus's link:
http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5E-VM%20DO&p=1&s=22&os=24&hashedid=BcnnZhKxoh65jfIC
You can change the search. Regardless of model, they seem to have Realtek sound ALC883. If you can't get it from Asus, try here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
or here:
http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-AC-97-Driver-Windows-Vista-Windows-7/3000-2120_4-10962344.html
This last one is for Windows 7 AC97 codec. I believe you would need the High Definition software but, it's worth a try.

This is link for Realtek. You have Realtek ALC883 audio codec on your board. You can go to this link and pick your o/s and download. I would check in "device manager" under "sound audio and gane controllers first to see if it is enabled and functioning properly first. No Sound After Reinstall

Have you Reset you BIOS,because after you build a machine up,the Bios has to be set to Default, and were you grounded with a arm band when you put the parts together?,During the assembly it is paramount that you wear a grounded arm band so that your body electrical discharge does not interfere with the components, you probably have a hardware/software conflict.some thing in the BIOS is most likely left on.or set to hardware.
