Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Cannot access eCopy/ShareScan network drive

A Canon tech came out two days ago and replaced the "external delivery cover assembly" (PN: FM2-7442-030) after which everyone in our office lost access to the ShareScan network drive. The eCopy machine is separate from the C4080i printer, has a separate CPU and a separate touch screen. Whenever someone clicks on the designated ShareScan network drive from their personal desktop computer an error message pops up that reads: "An error occurred while reconnecting X: to \\Ecopy17-21\sharescan\'user name' Microsoft Windows Network : There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. This connection has not been restored." The Canon help desk believes that I need to go into the "ShareScan Administration" program and re-setup where the eCopy machine scans the files to - the only problem is that the ShareScan client automatically opens when you log in and hitting the "escape" key prompts you to enter a password. A password that no one in our office knows, Canon says they never set up, and our IT department says is Canon's problem. I have tried booting up in "Safe Mode" so that I could access the "ShareScan Administration" program - however when I do that it says that our scanner is not hooked up to the network - and therefore I cannot access it to make any changes to the ShareScan Client - i.e. change the password needed to exit the program. I have also tried turning on the eCopy computer and logging in with the C4080i printer switched off, that did not work either unfortunately. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and my apologies for the long question - I just wanted to be as detailed as possible. Thank you much

mdgm - I have no problem scanning documents. That part works fine. The part that doesn't work is accessing the network drive on desktop in my office. Thank you though.

There is no problem scanning documents, it's accessing the network drive where the PDFs are saved

SOURCE: Connection Problems

W2000 Terminal Server used to corrupt the accounts of RDP users every now & again. Wouldn't surprise me if W2003 did the same thing :{ I used to create a copy of the user's account on the server (with an incrementing number on the end of the account name) & change the default account in TS management to that new one when this sort of problem occurred. I then made a copy of the new account & deleted the corrupt one.

Of course there are all sorts of other reasons this may happen but that may take a fair bit of hands-on investigation to sort.

For info on what's actually happening: Have you looked in the TS logs? Or the System and Application logs? Have you looked ta the logs in the client? Can you connect to the same TS server & account using a PC & the MS RDP client? If not, try the solution above :)

SOURCE: Ristricted logging onto server when server is off

Thanks for the background info, this makes it easier for me to see what you need.
You need to disable your guest account if you havnt already done so.
The user is logging on with a cached version of the logon information, this is useful for when the server goes down but not in your case as you need to prevent this.
Another worrying aspect is that you allow all your users to log on using the same password. Very bad from a security aspect anyhow. It is better to change at least every 30 days. If they moan they will get used to it soon enough.
Go into group policy again and computer configuration>windows settings>security settings>local policies>security options and look for interactive logon:number of previous logons to cache - set this to 0. If the domain controller is not available and the logon info is not cached they cannot logon to domain.
Group policy can be overruled at the client end if they have admin priviledges so you may have to set this on the client pc also. But you need to test to see if it is required there. I have not used that particular policy but it should be ok just on the server. Your users dont have admin rights do they? Anyway good luck. You can set this by applying it to an OU or domain wide but if you want to target just this one pc then maybe if you put it in its own ou and apply it just there.
You need to create new policies rather than modifying the domain one and keep each policy for specific purposes so that applying them to ou's is easier, ie internet options policy, firewall policy, working hours policy etc.

If I understand your question properly I can help you. Press the "additional functions" button which is located to the right of the display about halfway down the the keypad. It has an asterisk look to it and what I believe is supposed to be a "look" of a human head. LOL. Press it and you will see a menu. Two columns appear. The last item of the left column should say system settings. Press it. I am doing this from memory so you may have improvise as my memory sucks. Once you press system settings you should see a new menu, unless you IT guy has blocked access to these features as many do. In which case I cannot help. In the event you indeed do have access you should see a new menu. Since I do not have a machine in front of me we can struggle together. Once you have selected system settings you will see a new menu that the second column in the right should say "network settings".Press it. Then you will see on the second tab tcp /ip settings. Press it. At this point you can change the IP address settings. The area where you are now will also allow you to change the DNS server settings and just about everything you might want. Once you have made the changes you wish to make......back out by pressing reset till you get back to the main copy screen. Now in order for the changes you have made to take effect you must turn the machine off and back on using the power switch located at the right side of the copier, at the rear of the right side, about halfway down the machine.Turn the power off, wait a few seconds , then back on. Within 60 seconds the copier will accept the the new network changes . i hope this helps you and take care

SOURCE: Revised IP address for Ricoh 2020d

Go to user tools counter. Go to settings. Go to interface. You should see the IP address settings window. Some Ricohs have auto DHCP. Usually I turn that on to get it to recognize your router. Make sure your gateway address is inserted as well.

I have a D660 printer, it has several papers jamed I have pulled what I can out but still jammed

I'm sorry, I believe the paper is in the fuser assy, correct? The whole fuser assy will have to be removed from the copier and taken apart to get the pieces of paper out. You will have to remove the left three covers, the cover just above the delivery cover and the small one just to the left of the delivery tray. Then remove the drum unit, the control panel, then the glass and the black cover for the ribbon scanner cable. Move the top reader assembly to the left so that the access holes align so that a long shafted phillips screw driver can be inserted to remove the three screws securing the fuser assembly. Then bend back the black milar plastic cover and unplug the three connectors that go to the fuser. Carefully remove the assembly and then remove the two screws at the top of the fuser and separate the assy. Reverse procedure. Good luck.

My powerhead drive belt to the N137A electrolux model has broken. I have a new belt for replacement but do not know how to install.

Turn the PN bottom up. With a Phillips screwdriver, remove the six screws in the base. Turn PN over and lift back of cover, then gently manipulate it until it comes off.
Slide the belt off motor shaft, if necessary. Remove the screws on each end of the brush and lift the end of the brush so you can remove the belt, if necessary. Place new belt on brush and place brush into slot. Replace screws and tighten. Pull belt back to motor shaft and slip on. Check belt for tautness. There should be a little play, but not much. Make sure belt is placed correctly and rotate brush a few turns.
I recommend cleaning the inside of the PN while you have it apart. Use the dust brush to vacuum as much as possible out.
Make sure the light cover is in the correct position. Carefully place front lip of PN cover into slot in front.of the PN. Carefully settle cover in place. Check around the PN to ensure cover and base are correctly placed. Turn PN over and replace screws, short one in front.

I do recommend letting a trained Aerus Electrolux tech do this, especially since the belt will have a one year warranty if he/she does it. Of course the belt should last longer than that, anyway.

I need directions how to replace a 1630 fuser assembly.

Make sure copier is unplugged. You need to remove the glass by removing the left side panel. Remove the two screws and remove the panel. Remove the glass. You should see a ribbon cable on its side with a black cover. Remove the cover. It provides access to the hole you should see. Slide the top to the left and remove the drum unit. While the blue top is up, remove the screw that holds the control panel secure. Lower the blue cover and remove the control panel. Be careful of the ribbon and unplug it. You should now see the access hole to get to the screws that secure the fuser assembly. Remove 2 left side covers by removing the three screws. The one screw you see at the front I remove to make it easier to remove the cover that has edges below that cover. Then remove the cover that is above the delivery area. Turn back the milar sheet and unplug the three connectors that are routed to the fuser. Remove the three screws and carefully remove the fuser assembly. Carefully reverse the procedure for the replacement fuser or rebuild the fuser assy by taking the fuser assembly apart. I hope this is enough to get you started in the right direction.

How can you bates stamp with a konica minolta bizhub?

What model bizhub do you have? Konica Minolta bizhubs do not Bates stamp as a standard feature. If your bizhub is compatible, eCopy Sharescan can provide Bates stamping numbering. This is an accessory you would need to purchase. If you post the model, I would be happy to confirm that it is eCopy capable.

Change your machines network settings to DHCP and restart it from cold (ie turn off at wall for 60 seconds). If the machine doesn't show up on your network, you may need to allocate it a specific IP address and then set that address in the printers folder of each Computer that accesses the machine

Error E602-001

The hard drive does need to be replaced and must be done by an authorized Canon service tech (like me) who has access to the system software. The system software ( or firmware) is installed on the new hard drive using Canon's Service Support Tool. Check here to find your local authorized Canon dealer.
