My wireless internet isn't working on my Dell Inspiron 6000.

My computer will connect ot the internet fine, but when I try to open the internet, or an application that uses the internet, nothing happens. What should I do?

This has happened to me before, and believe it or not, it’s easy to fix. I would first suggest contacting your ISP to make sure that there aren’t any bandwidth restrictions or blackouts. These two things can knock down your internet quick and you wouldn’t even know it. I live in Portland and use Clear wireless internet (www.clear.com/?utm_source=bc) and my “Unlimited” package gives me as much bandwidth as I want for $50 a month. But this wasn’t always the case. When I first started with Clear, I opted for their “Occasional” package which gave me 200MB per month for $30. With both packages I got wireless internet throughout downtown Portland, which was awesome. I don’t know where you live, but Clear is coming to Las Vegas, Grand Rapids, and Atlanta soon and I really recommend them.

Hi,

try launching An Internet Explorer, Or web-browser Page.
Also You could look in the device manager, for any problem-devices. Then check that you are getting A receive as well as Transmit signal. ( bytes sent/received ) Check settings In Internet Connectivity.

If you have some software provided by your ISP. Could be on a CD, then try to install it.
Else
Contact your ISP and they will provide you with gateway, and provide you settings which are required to access internet. Only your ISP can provide you these settings.

Several resoning behind this one. One check your firewall setting, and make sure your wireless card have permission. Two, make sure that your mac filtering is turn off. Your wirless network has it own mac address and it is not in the router as to be aloud, it will block it. Three if your wireless network has a password, make sure you enter in right, it is case sensative. Four make certain that you have your wireless device is connected to the modem, or modem wireless combine. Finally, if you were running wired, try to clean the temperary ineternet filess off.

Dell inspiron 6000 i cant get the red X off the wireless icon?

If you're using wireless internet and should be connected, you'll have to make sure that you're in range of the wireless network and have the proper network key if it's required.
If you're not using the wireless internet and just want the notification to go away, you can double click on the icon itself, and then select 'properties' in the next window that opens. Then just remove the checkmark next to 'notifiy me with this connection has limited or no connectivity'

check DEVICE MANAGER if the wireless card have the right driver installed. if you found that the wireless card have yellow exclamation point on the right it means, you installed a wrong driver.

check also in BIOS if the wireless card is enable and the switch is turn on.

press Fn+F2 to enable wireless radio/anthena (funtion key with wireless icon in blue color)

some dell laptop have hard switch located right side check this and turn the switch on.

if you want to see the icon n task bar, go to control panel....network connection...right click on wireless adapter...select properties...check Show on taskbar

Dell pc will not work with linksys router

HI Boston
I believe the wireless card that you have in your laptop is a dell wireless card.

Here are the instructions on how to get your wireless working
Start-All programs-dell wireless-dell wireless wlan card utility-open the window and on the uncheck let this tool manage your wireless.
Please make sure that Enable radio is checked otherwise no wireless networks will be detected by the computer.
Once that is done go to start control panel in the left hand side make sure classic view is what is there. Go to network connection and you would see wireless network connection. Right click and click on view available wireless networks.
click on refresh network list if any of the networks are not seen.
Still no go try to enable the radio of your wireless card by pressing fn+F2 and then try.

if your getting limited or connectivity right click on wireless network connection go to properties, select on the top the tab wireless networks and remove your network from the preferred networks click on ok.

now get back to view available networks and try to connect to your wireless network.

make sure if there is a security on ur network you are aware of the ntework key and its case senstiive as well. otherwise ask linksys to give it to u.

if your wireless says connected check the ip address and post it here . for finding ip address start-run-cmd-click on ok

in the command window type ipconfig and post the ip address here.

alternatively also try updating the wirless card from the site
http://support.dell.com
thank you do post your results and feedbacks if any

So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.

Server not found} NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router doesn't connect me to the internet.

Dear Loud Nouises,

Your router must be connected properly to the cable modem. This must be to the wan port on the router.

Next, the router must be set-up accordingly to recognize the modem's internet connections. Please ask for the IP address.. and other relevant informations from your internet provider.

Set -up your computer using the internet connections wizard on each of your respective computer.

This should work fine if all connections were correctly configured.
