I would first try replacing the thermocouple (you want to put a new one on a new gas valve any way), if that didn't cure it ya gotta replace that old gas valve because the solenoid on it is going out. Ain't gone yet but going and nope you cannot just replace the solenoid anymore like in the old days. Gotta fit another gas valve IF the new thermophile generator don't fix the probo.

SOURCE: oven pilot light won't light
you must push and hold the button on the bottom fo the safety valve until the thermocouple is warm enough to keep the safety valve open. @ 25 - 30 seconds
SOURCE: stove top pilot light
I have a GE Gas Stove XL44 the stove top buners don't light by themselves without manual lighting. When I turn on the buner knob the buner doesn't click. Also I used my self- cleaning oven for the first time and stopped it before the time was up after that is when the stove top buners wouldn't light by theirselves.
SOURCE: Oven pilot light will not stay lit
The thermocouple is bad this is the probe that sits next to the pilot, the pilot flame heats the thermocouple and then it sends a micro voltage to the valve to keep it lit.Goto hobartcorp.com and find your model then the part number.
SOURCE: Kenmore gas stove. Oven burns big flame which soots
The manifold needs to be cleaned and adjusted could have rust etc in it Not a good thing to do yourself unless you know what you are doing
SOURCE: the right hand oven lights, but no matter which
the flame needs to be adjusted there's a small screw right inside of the shaft where the knob goes. Pull knob off and there should be a screw inside that u shaped shaft. Turn the burners on and set the flame accordingly.
