Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook
It makes on long beep and two short ones on boot up. Screen is blank. Laptop is completly dead now. This problem has gone from intermittent to permanent
I bought mine in April 2007. This happened June of last year and they replaced it for free. It just happened again 2 nights ago and HP won't do anything. My fiance called them and got a case manager and said that they design their laptops to work for only 2 years to which I say if it's designed to work for 2 years, shouldn't my motherboard still be working? After this experience and numerous other problems I have had with this laptop, I am never buying an HP product again.

I have spent a while trying to fix my DV9074CL. Replaced tree motherboards. Got to the point where It seems like the problem is in screen hinges. It will start up just with screen being in specific position. Like half way or almost closed. Sometimes you have to put a pressure on the left hinge part of the screen. The common problem. a lot of people have with DV 9000 series is that the hinges go bad from opening and closing it all the time. Debating if that is the “BLACK SCREEN, THREE BEEP” problem.

Try in slot 1 and slot individually. To eliminate RAM Module Failure.
