The keyboard types an english pound sign instead of a dollar sign

My mom just got a new keyboard and set it up herself. i don't know what she did but it is using united kingdom symbols. i changed all the language prompts i could find but it still won't work right. when i type @ i get ". help please. she has windows vista.

Go to settings and adjust the location and hot keys. of your keyboard go to control panel and to keyboard and adjust.

How do i get degree symbol and english pound signs on my keyboard?


Hi,

For pound sign (£): Press and hold ALT key while typing 0163.

For degree sign (°): Press and hold ALT key while typing 0176.

My Acer key board can not display the at sign above TWO key shows inverted commas instead and the hash sign above THREE shows a Pound sign? Please assist


Hold down the ALT(ernate) GR(aphic) key -- to the right of the SPACE BAR on your keyboard.
Press the '2' key.
Release the '2' key.
Release the ALT GR key.
Does an '@' display?

Check that you are using the "American English" keyboard mapping.
Control Panel -> Regional options.

The pound sign on my Dell keyboard does not work. It types the # sign??


In the United States # is the pound sign (shift-3), in the UK the term "pound sign" is understood to mean the currency symbol, £, for pound sterling

Shift-3 does prints # instead of Btisih pound


This is because it is set to US english keyboard layout rather than UK English layout.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Keyboard

and change the language settings...

When typing @ sign get " sign, when type pound sign get # sign, all regional settings are correct


start menu > all programs > accessories > accessability > on screen keyboard

click on "keyboard" on the toolbar and select the option that matches your keyboard layout .

Acer aspire 8930T - german settings (QWERTZ) - reverse Q and @


If you want it in English the do the following.
Start > Control pannel > Regional Options > Select the seconds tab > "Details" And select whihc keyboard language you want.

P.s. That was an example for XP not sure about Vista

When switching on to another user account the @ button isnt working it gives me a '' instead also this is the pound sign # can anybody help All button work on set up administator.


The keyboard is on the wrong country code ie: USA and Not UK to change go to programs Help type in keyboard and follow instructions for counrty change or layout change .... Regards Vortash

HOW CAN I GET POUND SIGN ON KEY3 TO WORK ON DELL 1525


Start --> Control Panel --> Regional Language and Options

In each tab change the settings to English (United Kingdom)
Click Details on the Language Tab
Add English Keyboard and delete american
ignore the warning message and then re-boot

go to control panel --> regional and language settings --> click "Languages" tag--> click "Details"--> select default input languages as "English (United States) US"-->Ok-->Restart the computer.
