Does the it eject as soon as you close it or is there a delay?

Things to check in the meantime - The button on the drive itself (you may even have an extra on on your laptop too) to eject the drive isn't stuck or jammed in some way.

There are no foreign objects preventing the tray from closing properly.

If there is a disc in the drive it is seated in the tray correctly.

Hi Andy, there is no disc, no foreign object, it ejects at random times. even in safe mode. You can leave the laptop idle and it will just eject. Also, the button is not stuck. Even changed the drive but the problen still persiss.

Ok, from what you have said, having changed the drive we can rule out the drive being at fault. What we need to do know is isolate whether it is a software issue. The easiest way to test this is to power the machine up and enter the BIOS. Don't adjust any settings but leave it idling on the BIOS screen. If you find the drive is still ejecting at random then we can determine that software you have installed is not the problem.

Thanks, the drive did not eject while it was in the bios menu, when i thought the problem could have been with the OS after changing the drive I reloaded the OS. I am uninstalling all HP related software that was installed with the drivers right now. It does look like software now, question is which one cause it only has the default HP software which comes with the driver disc?

Please try in this way.

Disconnect power.
Connect power back, and keep REPEATEDLY pressing the eject button while you connect. If still no ject press power on button while you keep hitting the ehect button. You need to press eject on the unit, do not use the remote.

If that does not work, then the unit must be taken apart.

Have you tried removing the cables from the drive and refitting them.
If it still does it, you probably have a faulty eject mechanism.

CD Drive not Recognized / Wont Eject CD

There is a small pinhole in the face of the dvd drive. Use a paperclip to poke into the hole. It will force an eject of the dvd drive. You can also explore the computer, right mouse click on the drive letter of the dvd drive, choose "eject"....
If it still will not eject, unplug the ribbon cable from the drive but keep the power plugged in, then press the eject button. If worse comes to worse, four small screws, and you can remove the shell of the drive exposing the dvd inside....
Good luck!!!!

How do I eject my cd from my studio computer?

Assuming the normal eject button isn't working....

Shut the computer down. Do not just re-boot. Wait at least two minutes, then start the machine again. After it re-boots, try ejecting the CD again with the eject button.

If still no luck, look for a small hole in the CD drive front cover. Open a paper clip and insert it into the hole carefully. This should permit the CD door to open.

This problem can sometimes be caused by a bad CD and in other cases, a corrupt CD driver. If it keeps happening, try re-installing the drivers for the drive. The last resort would be a bad CD/DVD drive.

Have you already tried to mannually open the tray, by inserting a thin straight object (like a unbent paper clip) in the manual eject hole on the optical disk drive? The hole exists for that pupose.

Cd stuck inside laptop

There is a small hole, usually near the eject button. Unbend a paper clip and carefully push the paper clip into the hole, try to keep it straight. drive should pop right out.

DN- S3500 Cd won't eject.

HI...

There might be a round access hole on the bottom of the case with a symbol near it.If it does , turn the screw down inside. Many CD players have a Panic hole like that.
